I'm looking to a buy an engine hoist and stand. I see that stands are pretty cheap at harbor freight. Are they decent enough? I found a hoist on CL for 300 I might look at but if anyone is selling one or knows someone who is any lead would be appreciated. Any brands to avoid? Thanks.

I have this harbour freight engine hoist and have used it for years on about 15 projects. It's not bad but i did immediately replace the pivot bolt with a hardened steel pin for peace of mind.

If i knew how much i would have used it when i bought it i probably would have spent a little more on a nicer one.

Thats a pretty sweet deal including the load leveler. I had to buy mine separately.

I think I got this same one. Only "complaint" whatsoever is the little crank handle on the load leveler is a little janky. Otherwise been satisfied with the thing as a whole. And it's nice that it folds up to take up less space.

Just make sure you get a "2 ton" one and not a "1 ton" , not because you will lift that much, but because of the longer reach.
