I think a lot of people desire for this 'FORUM' to become a legit club... aka like the Local Audi or BMW clubs, whom host driving events etc... but then a handful piss and moan about fees... well it takes money to grease the wheels too... I look over at OZWRX and they have a nationwide forum, with local gatherings..they organise a huge charity drive annually to raise money for cancer or whatever... that's a club... I think this forum (and it saddens me to say) is never gonna get past this stage, regardless of whom is helping, due to the fact that there are sides that can't stop pissing on each others shoes... GROW the hell up... as I have stated before, Justin and I had a fall out a while back, and now we are ok.. ( we dont chat like before but we are mature towards each other) I see things he says and just choose not to flare things up or rub salt into the scabs.. and I am sure he does with some of my comments.. this is what needs to be done as a WHOLE... everyone who doesnt care who slept with whom, or who forgot the vaseline 2 yrs ago and someone got butt hurt raise your hand.... :wavey: thats mine... Lets move forward... everyone is allowed to have their say, that's what an open forum is for... but really do any of you guys who are slinging poo like monkeys think that you are helping the forum/club move forward.. regardless of what side you are on...??? quit.. just quit..... Justin you started your own forum, and decided to close it down for 'UNITY' but flammatory accusations or comments hasn't really shown that... I know you have the ability to just bite your tongue.... as hard as it may be at times... work on not flaring up the issues anymore... that goes for the other side too, not just Justin... Guys taking shots at others employment status etc is not cool... Jason you work long hours ... good for you.. hope in the end it's worth it for ya, but maybe Chux is a pizza Boy as you stated, at least it is honorable and he's not a thief or drug dealer... I personally failed at a business... what does that make me... then again I don't give a crap what it makes me in the eyes of this site.. I took a shot at a million dollar actually 1.7million investment.. it didnt work, big deal.. I am no better then anyone else... so now I am just a tech... big deal... we all just need to get lives and realise that the reality is this is a place to hang out and meet people online, and eventually meet in person... hell some have had relationships come from this site.. some worked some didnt, (Ray and Fong ) but there is always gonna be good and bad, as we are humans who arent perfect and will always have issues... deal with it... reality check... IT IS TIME TO FOCUS ON MOVING FORWARD NOT POINTING FINGERS AT WHO IS THE BIGGEST RETARD OR SLACKASS... funny thing is Fobia and I are agreeing more and more lately, and all I thought I did was piss him off... ha ha a great example of how this club/forum can take guys from different walks of life and find common ground... we are all into cars... some like them a certain way others dont... yada yada...but ultimately we are here to share a similar passion... CARS... lets focus on that instead of who is the biggest baddest macho-est faggot and start working and focusing on CARS!!!
and a whole page was added while I was typing the above essay awesome.. this is progress.. like Fuji another members car that was built by the owner, and woked on by the owner with help from other members along the way.. and a fine piece of ass... er car... ha ha
Going to clear this up simply because I have to, not to start more drama. My point to that whole thing is that he was calling me out for not putting in time and effort into the club and putting my 'money where my mouth is' and not donating time and money to the club. I don't have spare money, and I don't have spare time. I MADE time to make t-shirts for the ice-races. That was something I took responsibility for, and came though on time as promised with the help of phi11 and Aegis. WE did that for no personal gain or compensation, we did those things at the cost of our own time and some money too. And we did them so that everyone at the Ice Races could have a t-shirt. The point being, I don't own up to responsibilities that I can't deliver on. And to call me, someone who has NO time and NO money, out for not putting time and money into the club from the pedestal of living in your parents house and delivering pizza for an 8 hour shift is absolute crap. Not everyone has a basicly free life that they can just throw time and money at a car club. He wanted to get on his high horse and talk down to me for my contribution. I think my contribution matches my ability to contribute. I haven't been to Firestone in months, and I haven't had time. Going to the Ice Race is a luxury I'm still paying for. I don't have time to sit around and administrate MNSubaru.com and put together LLC's....but then again, I never promised I would. I never took responsibility for those things, so therefore I don't feel bad when I am not getting them accomplished. He obviously has time to sit around and moderate MNSubaru, neat. Congrats. Glad you could contribute. All I have time to do right now is look out for my interest in the club, and that interest is in pointing out the intense bucket of promises that have gone unfulfilled. If I had time to get the LLC stuff working, I'd own up to it and do it. But I don't. And those that have said they'd do it, haven't. For two years. Same with the site issues...if I could, I would. But I can't, so I tell the people that promised me they'd take care of those things to get them done and stop lying and saying they will. I invite anyone here to tell me to put my money where my mouth is, then look at my time cards for the last 2 months. I've been at work more than I've been home. And I don't have time to take ownership of any of these tasks. But I'll be damned if I dont' call out those that take ownership of those tasks and don't follow through. That's where I'm coming from. You can hold any job and be fine by me, but don't call me out for not putting in equal amounts of time and money when I don't have as much as you to give.
that's cool.... likewise mine was a generalised statement.. if I stated off ever back and forth argument I would be typing into next week.... but as I said... someitmes not saying anything back is being a bigger man... hey you got a house, a car etc... we know you work hard... carry on
Fair enough. ANd the car donation. Kinda sucks, but I'd probably be able to donate the car, but not myself, due to work hours. I have a small list of folks that I'd allow to take the car to the meet location though.
I love you, Josh. I really do. But you are not on that list. Yet. You need the familiarization course.
Josh, you bonehead. I was indicating that as long as you went through the Mix-Mobile Certified Operator Familiarization Course, you could drive it. You got banned by me, on your own compuer, while you weren't looking. I ban like a total ninja.
It's more about just general operation than babying it though. But I agree, Josh would take good care of it. 3rik did express interest though, and he is my butt buddy.
How bout this, you bring over some coffee and that hookah again, and we will go on a ride and drive around the grove before we sit down for relaxing coffee/hookah time.
I didn't realize you could even say that on here! Fixed Alright, enough happiness; it's time for the serious business. Fuji: I agree that the "No one is stepping to the plate" comment is old and moot. From what I understand with my gibbon-sized brain is that the moderators have made the plans of what needs to be done. I believe we are waiting on orders from that group. Also, I think your "seminars" are going to be a phenomenal idea. I wish I would have thought of it. Count me in. I don't know what I can contribute with my car, but I'm totally in. wrxboy2003: You have never been so sexy to me, when did you grow up? Also, I think your ideas are proving to be the right ones to look to. I think you've got the right foundation for ideas. And to go along with what you said, forgiving and forgetting is going to be a big part in making these baby steps into great strides. We seriously have beaten these issues down and I can already see the passion from all sides. People want this to happen. People want to work, let's use this to get what we want done. But first, my additional $.04: We can't compare ourselves to BMW and Audi clubs. Let's not forget that they developed in reverse of what we're going to accomplish. If anything, maybe we could contact the officials of their club and learn something from the pros?
K. Just read ALL of it. Whew. I like the idea of club status. At the same time, this still needs to be a free forum for people to use as a resource. I do not know what "club" or LLC status means, so if someone could clarify all the ins, outs, and what-have-yous that would be nice. This place needs to maintain some of the feel it has now, meaning it is a free place for people to check out, lurk, post, whatever. Firestone is the place people can go once in a while to put faces to all the names. I'd go more often but my schedule doesn't allow it. I study mechanical engineering and work 20-25 hours on the weekends. I'd love to put more time into mnsubaru, but its not possible untill I graduate. Right now the nice part of this community is that everyone can be as involved as they want to be. That should never change. The keychain/card for members is a good idea, namely for discounts. I understand the point of view from the businesses offering the discounts who don't want the word out that anyone can drop the name "mnsubaru" and get a discount. That is only fair to them. That is all I have right now, and I'll chime in if I come up with anything else.
please, please point me to a post you've made in either of these threads that doesn't mention how much we need money for events. ok...not really. I know you've made more than a few that don't mention money, but the point remains. you have to admit that getting money for the club and then spending it on events has been extremely high on your priority list (if not just plain 'ol #1). and how you'd like to use that money to set up BBQs etc. The step to you asking for money to get pizza (or whatever) for a meet at Grimmspeed is not a very big one at all. and, you have offered to host something at grimmspeed (in the "in 5 years" thread, IIRC), and you were also pretty specific that you didn't want to come to the meeting specifically because it was at Identifix, JUST because it was affiliated with Todd. Jason, thank you for writing a college level essay (as you so dependably do) to prove my point. NONE of us have all that much time to donate to the club. I don't know why you have to take a personal stab at my life, if your too old to bicker, why must you resort to name calling?! I'm sorry if working my ass off at a part time job, working my ass off on a gravel slab to keep my car working so I can still make money at that part time job, trying to start a small business, trying to keep up with the demand that business has already generated (holy crap....btw!!), paying my bills, and saving up money to allow me to go back to school aren't legit in your book.....but I keep busy. and don't try to get sympathy (or whatever the reason you felt the need to mention it) because you got home at 10-11pm.....I got home from work at ~2:30am tonight. in the time it took you to write any of the large posts you've made in this thread, you could have updated the home page here yourself. so, as far as I'm concerned, saying that you don't have time just doesn't mean anything. Also, you were living in California when I became friends with Russ and Matt. so don't act like it's anything new.
It takes me 3 minutes to type out my huge novels. So no, in 3 minutes I couldn't fix the front page. And I could care less about sympathy, I don't know where in my post I asked for any, but thanks for caring. Either way, I don't have much time to spend at home ****ing with web development. Like I said, I have my own site to worry about in that regard, so MNSubaru's front page isn't my priority. And you missed the point entirely, my point was, I'm busy so I know better than to sign up for responsibilities that I can't follow through on. So, regardless of how long I spend typing out my posts, I don't intend to spend any of my time working on MNSubaru's webpage because I don't have time to do so. The person that has signed up to take care of the site, doesn't. If he is too busy, maybe he should hand it over to someone that isn't too busy.
Here's a non-college-level post... What the hell does this have to do with anything. Congrats on being friends with people, that's really neat.
Its been very entertaining and disturbing to read all the response on this topic and alike. I've been around on this forum for a very long time. Never really had any expectations from this forum. All I wanted was to get to know more about Subaru's and learn from others, spend more time with other Subaru enthuesist/drivers. Those that know me, know I'm a driver first, not very technical, but I offer where I can. Most of you know I am affiliated with NorthstarBMW and now AUDI, I also have relations with Vintage if there is ever a chance that MNSubaru wants to come out and drive with us. I regret to inform everyone effective immediately I am leaving this forum and hope thing will improve for us all. Best of luck, -Cheech
Sorry to see you leave. Your effort in getting people involved with other events (BMW club, etc) has been appreciated. I wouldn't have known about the winter driving schools otherwise for example. So, thanks for the contributions you've made to the site. Hopefully we can get through some growing pains around here and I hope you do come back some day.
