the track is fun, it would add a whole new edge on ice. maybe sharpedn the corners a bit after the straight, for some side ways action.


heres what i tihnk of 2.5~rs 's track (jk) FYI: Stars = places i crash into snow banks lol

 

that looks easy enough to make, hopefully it gets cold real soon or we will be racing on water

Judging by the number of stars it looks like you you could use this practice hehe

 

Yah, something simular to it. It all depends how much snow there is on the lake. if theres too much snow it will be hard to make lots of corners

 

do you guys have any snow up there right now?

 

we have around 6 inches, it was 7 below last night

 

how much snow is good for someting like this, i assume atleast 12 inches is about perfect

 

if there is too little snow you need alot more cones to make the course, if theres too much snow when you go off the course you will get stuck. so somewhere between 6 inches and a foot is good

 

In the event of someone getting stuck do you have anything to pull us out with or is time to start digging?

 

put me down as a maybe just so you will have an idea of how many people are going. I will have to wait til jan to be sure about it.

 

WOW, let me know when people start riding up there and the trails are decent. I might have to make a trip up there for a weekend before the baby gets here.

I am pretty interested in some ice-racing! Plus my girlfriend and my roommate and I are all new to Minneapolis and like to check out other parts of the state. I am assuming this is safe!? Is the $20 per person assuming we all stay in one big ass cabin? Are private cabins available? I don't know if I can convince my GF to stay in a cabin with a bunch of random dudes I met on the Internet.

Now I just need to find some snow tires!

yes the $20 per person is assuming you stay in one cabin, we have 1 more private cabin available, but that would be $125 a night for 2
And yes it is safe

Do you work/run the resort?

Do I just make researvations through the website in your signature line? If so are we dead set on Jan. 7th. I don't want to lose my reservation if this ends up not going down. In any event count me in.

yes we are set for Jan 7th, it looks like there will be pleanty of ice, there is 5 inches now and people are snowmobiling on the lake allready

I revised the 1st post,

also, who will be ariveing on friday? its about a 4 hour drive from MSP, so it would be better to get there friday evening and relax before Saturday.

 

Its only 4 hours?? I remember last year when I came up it took me over 6 hours to get there, maybe I took the long way :?
Im planning on coming up, plan on driving the truck and pulling mine and Justin's sled up. Its the ladies b-day that weekend so im trying to get permission to leave for the weekend 8)

 

its only 240 miles, I usually make it in 4 to 4.5. you just gota give it more gas

 

I really want to try to make it to this event. I dont know if i would be able to stay over night or anything but i might just come up for the day.

 

One of my friends might tag along from Duluth, he wants to watch the scoobies play in the snow. So what kind of food do you have up there? Any awesome places to eat nearby?

 

a very important question! did my trick idea get approved (lol). this sounds liek it will be a blast, so you can put me on teh maybe list. i am still tryign to figure out what my holiday plans are going to be, but i will try my hardest to make this trip. i could really use the extra expeirence on ice (and getting unstuck lol)

What are the plans for eating? Is someone going to bring up mad amount of pizzas and divide the cost among the people that show up?

 

If you guys want pizzas I can make them for you, let me know what you want to eat and we can make it for you,,burgers, pizza,, steaks,, whatever..

Pizzas or grilled meat sounds great. Can't have horsepower without meat.

Dont worry it wont be in a straight line, I will try to make it like 2.5RS submited. I will be plowing the lake next weekend with the 4wheeler to see how it turns out

 

So is this track going to be snowmobile friendly???
