RS motors tuned me, thanks to Ronnie who did a great job with my car. Thanks to Predavore for getting me a short ram intake at the last moment. Here are my mods..... 2005 WRX: VF39 565cc injectors ebay FMIC gm BCS turbo xs bov wrapped upipe/downpipe chopped stock turbo heat shield catless inviadia downpipe catless upipe bosal single tip catback exhaust Here is my best dyno run, 257 horsepower/244 torque. The turbo didn't fully spool until like 4300 I think there is a small exhaust leak or some shaft play because that seems really high, I will tighten all exhaust connections and see if that helps. I am very pleased with the results and the car runs perfect now. It will be for sale next spring to make room for a new 2 seater and another motorcycle, but I am going to enjoy it this summer and all winter. Here are some photos, it is in desperate need of a cleaning inside the engine bay.
I have no idea why it was not smoother, any ideas? The torque is goofy as hell looking I am going to try adding a shim in the BOV I think that it was fluttering a little. Maybe it was the wastegate?
You can make any dyno (or road dyno) graph as spiky or smooth as you would like. I'm sure there is a resolution factor that Ron could've used to smooth out the graph after the run. When did Ron start that last run? Your torque peak is a little late, but the graph only looks like it starts around 3500. Also, your front mount may be (read: is probably) hurting your spool as well. How much boost?
im not going to turn down any help. any ideas where to look first? I am running 17 lbs of boost. I agree there is one FMIC coupler that is a little bent that would be causing late spool and added pressure drop. The ebay kit was hard to fit in just right.
To be honest, I'm not sure there is anything wrong. You could check for boost leaks, but your spool isn't that far off for a 2.0L, and you're fighting that front mount. On top of all of that, it looks like your posted dyno run was started late (usually I start good runs right around 2-2.5k). On top of all of that, you're running a straight hot air intake. By now I'm sure you know what most everyone on here will say about those...
yea I agree, I am happy with the results. In retrospect a tmic would be better but its too late now and it is what it is
thanks, in the big picture its nothing special but I am happy right now. I am thinking about boosting a 350z next summer having a 9 second sportbike effed me up forever!!!!
Spool looks pretty similar to my 2.0 w/16g+front mount, the numbers seem pretty comparable to where I was at 17 psi.
what would a 2k-2.5k starting position matter when it comes to peak HP and torque? It would maybe smooth off the curve but I guess I don't really care about the look of the dynograph anyways
with everything being wrapped I have tried to cool off my intake temps as much as possible. I don't see how I can run a stock intake or a CAI with the fmic piping in the way
my butt? tight and an exit only!! errr maybe i misunderstood you just kidding, it pulls pretty hard and is a lot of fun
Isn't there an ebay cai (xsengineering) for the ebay fmic? I suppose fitment would probably be ebay quality tho... Otherwise, custom intake piping or custom fmic piping. Good excuse to go rotated!
Numbers are actually pretty good for not having boost come in earlier. I wasn't too happy with this outcome but thats where it wanted to be. All the runs started at 2k I rescaled the graph to start at 3500 for viewing purposes. It had a couple runs at 260 peak torque but didn't like the timing at all so I had to back it down. Bikerboy recommended to check the wastegate for cracks.
yea, cracks and cracks, i also think I have a kinked intercooler hose coupler and that will mess stuff up too. long story short RS was awesome and I am happy
yea thats the plan, I am hoping to find someone with cables and a laptop close so I don't have to drive to burnsville again
