so guys there is a leak near my turbo i dont know what it is or where exactly but my car smokes because it touches the header any ideas and any solutions many thanks
im not sure if its oil or coolant its right next to the turbo so im not all that great with the subie engines yet sorry
check your inner axle boot, grease will land on the exhaust and smoke and stink. you might need a light but look from underneath if you cant see from up top.
checked that to but everything there is fine. it looks like its comin from the top but no idea where when i open the hood just that little area is all wet and it stinks soemwat like coolant but its brown in color so im not sure what it is and where its comin from
what year, make, model? 02-03 wrx? Looks like the hard Oil line for turbo. The oil originates there and travels up and around and into the turbo. If that's the case it's a super easy fix, just replace the washer...more than likely. (or hardline and hardware)
it had a sweet smell to it and it was black like oil so yea not sure and its a 01 but tats the 05 motor thanks
if it was sweet, but black like oil then its nothing that should be in your engine. My guess is that you have a coolant leak from somewhere else, but you are seeing smoke from a leaking oil line
^^ OP: Check your oil. If it looks milky, you've got coolant getting into the oil and therefore a leaking head gasket on top of the oil leak. It's like getting hit by a car, only to have the hospital tell you that you've got rabies too. Perhaps a fun-run is in order for the OP.
lol im sure its not oil because its not thick like oil and the only other option left is coolant but im not sure where that coolant is coming from since its near the turbo
well there are two coolant lines for the turbo. Incoming is the top line, return is the bottom. Both are located on the side of the turbo. trace the lines. don't you have anyone that can help you?
well the thing is that i dont know where to start lookin because it only leaks after hte car warms up and im driving it. if i let it sit itll be fine. its to hot around that area to go searchin when i can see the leak and when i cant see it i dont know where to look i checked the wires but it doesnt seem to be leaking when u touch anywhere around it. at the moment no i dont have anyone to help
degrease it very well..... let it dry then go drive it till you see a small leak... so you cna be sure where it is coming from... or without sounding like an ass... the time you have spent asking 10 times how to fix somethign which no-one knows exactly what the problem is, is like asking chet to check your oil or fill er up with gas... POINTLESS!!! go to FS or meet someone so they can look at it in person
hey guys thanks alot for the input and i have found the problem. it wasnt any leak near the turbo it was just the coolant leaking in the front that travelled along the headers while i was driving and it hit the uppipe where there was no heat shield so yea just tighten so loose nuts and hopefully that does the trick
