so, 3 of the rotors on my loyale are warped a bit....and one in the rear has a crack developing. I don't track my car, but delivering pizzas here in Duluth means they get pretty warm. I've asked on XT6.net about what's available for the rear, but I've got RS brakes on the front. what's good, what's worth having etc. I'm thinking slotted to help dissipate a bit, but I've heard stuff about cracking etc.
I have slotted/cryo rotors, and they hold up well. I think drilled rotors would be more prone to cracking. Of course, this depends on the quality/technique of the drilling. You would be fine with some slotted rotors. If you can, get some cryo treated rotors as well.
DBA 4000 series are the bees knees: chunky, heat treated, and with a great internal design that dissipates heat quickly (plus color coding so you can see how warm they are during use). <$200 for a set of RS fronts! FastWRX has a lot of them
Do a set of cryo'd powerslots and call it a day. They will probably out live the car. I am in the process of getting a established discount with frozenrotors. Russ
Question - I put on new rotors recently and the rears that are not frozen are really getting alot of surface rust. How can I stop or make them look better?
Chux, you can run WRX rotors if you switch the RS caliper brackets with WRX ones in the front. Might give you more rotor options. Also, those rotors you took with my calipers had been turned once and are the original rotors that came with the car.
me too... I just threw pads in the front of mine, out the rotors on the lathe and used a whizzer wheel on em to cut back any build up... (already cut them once 2 yrs ago) no pulsation, no cracks... 3 yrs on em now
cryo wont change that.. mine are cryo all around and they get that after rain... put some steelies on with hubcaps.. that way moisture wont get on them..problem solve...
yep, I know. but this is plenty of braking power for this car (pretty light....) and my uses. plus, I want to still be able to run 15" wheels for snow and/or rallyX. I guess I'll be contacting frozen rotors.
