Does anyone have one of these, and if so, where did you get it? I know I don't NEED one, but its just one more little addition of protection, and I'm paranoid like that.
I was looking for one, and I think I just googled it and found a company that sells them. here ya go, http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/kics-project-magnetic-oil-drain-plug-subaru-p-2578.html
That's awesome, thanks Tony. I'm kinda looking for something local tho, so if I don't find something I'll definitely get from them.
I see I have been summoned to this thread. What's going on, Shibbs? Too much grit in your lube? Paranoid of too much friction? Don't want to stop the force of your induction?
I read somewhere to NOT use the magnetic drain plug. Something like, it's better to let the oil filter catch it? Anyone agree/disagree with this?
Unless you had something happen like what did to Jason, you really wouldn't get much useful information from what collects on the drain plug. By the time you get to the steel backing of any bearings, your motor would sound like death.
I have a magnet that goes on the back of the oil filter (rubber suction cup w/ magnet). my dad started a company to have them made.... got a few boxes of them after years of testing.... they went into production and stated selling them to local car dealerships/repair shops..... the investor pulled his money due to personal issues (rehab). I still have a few if you want to check them out. they are reusable and work great. same idea as the drain plug but the metal stays in your oil filter. PM me if interested.
fine, you come get me, bring me to axeman, and then I will. I couldn't care less about a magnet, because I know sludge won't stick to it. haha
