correct, they are sending the 2.5 back :(

I guarantee that is not a 2.5 turbo block, it's going to be a 2.5 NA block. I bet they ordered one for the 92x base, but needed one for an aero.

    UPDATE
Hate to bring this thread back from the dead, but im fairly sure I spun ANOTHER rod bearing. Schmeltz countryside did the work at 60k (partially warrantied and I paid around $2K which wasnt too bad), put a rebuilt shortblock in. Now at 93k its knocking hard- full oil/all maintenance etc etc....This just cant be happening. I need to do something QUICK, so I need to know what my options are as I don't want to take a total loss on this. Called dealership---out of luck.

I just went through the game with the dealer so I feel your pain. 50% is better than nothing for playing the mod game. I to was fearing that my stage 2 tune may of caused this issue but it was not the case at all. just bad timming and a car that was prone to a spun bearing issue. Sorry to hear that. Just get it fixed and dont look back. And for the wife, ******* happens I guess you be hearing about it for awhile:rolleyes: ******good luck D

and it's been 3 years since the 2nd motor was installed? I'd start looking at maintenance and driving habits.

options from most expensive to least expensive:

    replace with new motor

    rebuild

    replace with used motor

what do these go for? about 9k? Put it up for sale for 5k and move on.

If they were replacing the bottom end, I would assume they replaced the complete short block, especially when you mentioned paying 2k with the dealer covering some of the work.

had to do something quick as its my daily driver so it was towed to legacypgt's shop- rebuild #2 here we go.

^^^^^ yes complete short block, but there were some problems. As I was looking through the documentation I had brought it in for smoke coming from the manifold and some vibrations above 60 mph....they made some adjustments and all was good for a few years.
