I just bought a used stromung axleback off of Nasioc, the seller said it is in excellent conditon and the pictures that he had furthers that claim. But, I know any used exhaust has some wear and tear...so what is the best way to clean it up? I was thinking steel wool, but would that make the stainless steel dull? Any input is appreciated...thanks!

where can I get this so called "wizards metal polish"? And does it take care of every ailment that a used exhaust may have?

Debating whether I want to paint the canister black or not. Even if I do, I want to clean it up first...

Take a look at my old maddad on Bullwinkle's car now... flat black ftw!

Also, if it's light wear, like soot on the tip and such, you can use any number of less abrasive liquid cleaners.

Well, 800 grit did the job for me.:) Looked extremely clean afterwards. Used some alcohal based cleaner to take off any oil from mah hands.

Sprayed flat black with BBQ grill 'high temp' paint.

    Never dull

I used a can of Rust-oleum black grill paint to paint the back of my sti can black and Never Dull wadding polish to get the tip back to brand new. Never dull even took the black exhaust gunk off the lower part of the tip with a little elbow grease. I'll post a couple pics later today of the muffler. Kinda wish I had painted the whole can being that the side of the can is somewhat visible from the side at certain angles.

I also did the same thing to my old wrx exhaust. Sleeperwagon now has it so he might have some pics as well.

Here's a pic of mine. A bit dirty but you get the idea. One of these days i'll paint the rest of the can.
