Are you looking to hit the track in Autocross, Drifting, Drag Racing, or Time Attack but don't want to pay all the fee's and registration while being unsure if it's for you? Fear not, as MAPerformance's Proving Grounds 2014.1 and 2014.2 allow you to experience all that registered racing has to offer, at a fraction of the cost! Proving Grounds is held at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, MN. The first of two weekends will be June 20-22, 2014 with the second of the two weekends occuring September 5-7, 2014. Events are available for drivers of all skill levels in Imports and Sport Compact cars with varying performance levels. Classes help separate the weekend warrior from the trailer queen, making this event fun for all! Furthermore, the Triple Track Showdown will crown the ultimate racer, challenging the driver in Drag Races, Auto-X, and Time Attack events! Do you have what it takes to the Proving Grounds 2014 TTS Champion? Classes are typically divided up based on Induction and Engine Performance, however some restrictions apply. The main idea is to let everyone have an equal opportunity to win their categories! More information can be found by visiting the Drag Racing, Auto Cross, Road Course, and Drifting class pages! Is it your first track day? No worries. Make sure your tire's have plenty of tread, your brakes are strong enough to handle the high heat environment of HPDE, your suspension is up to date (no blown struts!), and your engine fluids are full. Lastly (and most importantly) you'll need proper head protection that is 2005+ Snell approved. Everything will be inspected at the track, so be prepared! Proving Grounds is a huge event that is tons of fun for the whole family! You won't want to miss out on this track-day. So head on over to MAPerformance.com/pg for more information, and get registered for the weekend!
Here is a little bit of a PSA regarding HPDE. I had a lot of fun at this event last year. The read below will make anyone's experience that much more enjoyable. http://blog.365racing.net/2014/01/10/preparing-for-a-track-day-hpde-must-read-for-pg2014/
Thanks for sharing that ^ It is indeed a great resource, something many folks can benefit from. We've finalized our flier for this years event. Feel free to share this on social media and whatever other means you'd like. More details can always be found on our Proving Grounds website!
Not to get off topic but if your going to use someone's picture please leave their water mark. Photographer spend a lot of time editing and going through pics as well as taking the time and money to shoot the pictures. We all love to see nice pictures of our cars and others rides, these guys take the time and energy to provide those pictures. At least respect their work and leave their water marks to give them some credit. Back on topic I hope you guys have a great event. I won't be able to make it as I will have family in town that weekend
FYI: if you're running e85 plan on making a trip to Camp Ripley and expect to pay more then Regular gas as the SA in Baxter no longer sells it. By law you're only allowed to transport 5 gl at a time and if you get caught you'll be fined. So plan accordingly, be safe and have lots of fun.
Just a heads up for drivers, this year they're requiring SA2005 rated helmets or better. Don't go cheap on cheap insurance parts that may become a critical piece when your life depends on it. Unfortunately I won't be there this year to let you use mine to pass tech inspection but my good friend who owns Race Suit Rental will be. He'll be there to rent out safety equipment so you can participate safely. He can also help get you some really good deals on them as well. Have fun and play safe.
@xluben , just charge them $1 hit. So far them have all had around 330 hits on them. Or shoot them a cease and desist letter and give them 24 hours to remove them or your lawyers will take care of it. You know, just like any large media company would do to you if you STOLE their images. At this point, I wouldn't even want to be credited, I would make them change their work. Just letting them give you credit is just letting them off the hook for theft. Russ
Why does the flyer say $35 for Fri-Sun but on your website (http://www.maperformance.com/proving-grounds/admission/) it says $50 for Fri-Sun. Which is it??
Who provides the safety crews for these events? Given past history I'm thinking people who know how to run an extrication tool would be good to have around. Also, bad form indeed on the photo theft.
Just playing devil's advocate, not trying to justify anything, but do you get permission from the organizers to shoot at their event?
Doesn't mean you take credit away from the photographer...no one is saying they can't use it, but give credit where credit is due...that was the point of the picture I posted before....I dont know how happy M.A.P would be if photographers edited out anything that had their company name on it..
RSR (RaceSuitRental.com) is going to be a vendor at the MAP event and will have some safety gear available for sale and rental at the track. If you need us to bring up anything specific let us know BEFORE the event as can not anticipate everyone’s needs. We are a full dealer for Sparco, Bell Racing, OMP Sport, OMP, Momo, HJC, RaceQuip, CoolShirt, AIM and many other racing products. Thanks and looking forward to a fun safe weekend.
So being that it's a 6hr drive for me I've been watching the AccuWeather and it says there's a flood warning. Is this something to be concerned about? I hope not cause I've been waiting 9 months to hit the track again
It will likely be wet with standing water in low lying areas, but it is supposed to calm down tonight. There aren't any rivers near the track...
I have a Room at Americas Best Value In. If anyone is looking please let me know. Price if shared with me is 105(x2) Dollars for 2 nights. 2 Queen Beds. Thanks,
For those of you still driving up here. Traffic is heavy on 371 just north of 210. Cops are also out in full force. Please keep your spirited driving to a minimum on the street.
Alright, we've gotten everything ironed out for Proving Grounds 2014.2. The biggest changes we've made this time around are that we're opening the gates early on Friday morning to offer racers more time on the track, for the same price! This is a huge value for folks that come up to race the entire weekend. We will also be running a "grudge style" race event for the first time on Sunday.
