I know this topic has been covered but any threads I could find on it were a few years old. I'll be replacing some rusted cats on my mom's Outback soon and thought I'd try to recoup some of the cost by selling the old ones (might scrape together a couple other things to bring in at the same time as well). Any suggestions or recommendations on metal recyclers in the area who offer decent prices?

Are you looking for an honest one, or a shady one?

One that'll give me a decent price? Doesn't need to be a "no questions asked and we don't care where you got it from so don't tell us if you stole it" place.

I saw them when I did a search, seems like they'd be willing to take a few other things I've got lying around too. Just wasn't sure how their pricing is compared with other places. Anyone ever use them or have any insight?

A radiator, probably a few old wheels, a starter, maybe a couple other things like that. Adolph's looks like they take a bunch of stuff as cores too, not just scrap metal.

Aldophs just offered me $890 for the upstream downpipe cat alone. They weren't sure of the combined value. To get paid, I need to show up with the vehicle title. Worth a drive somewhere else? (This one is fairly close to home.) 03 WRX OEM downpipe.

I think the OEM system my old RS is still up in the rafters... Too bad it is becoming such a hassle to cash in. Some people have to ruin it for the rest of us.

Lake state came out with a pallet and the guy just told me what they would pay for each i brought in. Might be worth a drive if you can't find someone local to sell it to. I unfortunately have another one from my veloster i need to bring in once i get my decatted header

That's not bad. Did they make you show proof off ownership? I shouldn't have a problem with getting the title since the cats I have are coming off my mom's car but it's obviously in her name and she won't be with me.

Yes. Had to bring in car title...which really didn't make all that much sense to me because several of those cars were sold over the years. Not sure what their workaround is when the car has been sold or scrapped.

Stay away from Northern Metals recycling. They'll just start it on fire.

Finally had time to drive over to Adolph's in Blaine today, ended up getting nearly $450 for the two rusty little cats I pulled off the Outback (a fair amount more than I was expecting so that was nice). They seem pretty legit, had me pull into their loading bay area where they have camera surveillance and showed them the title and my driver's license. Luckily not having the car titled in my name wasn't an issue, so long as it matched the cats I brought in. Service was petty quick and friendly too.

Got quotes last week on a EJ205 downpipe with two cores. RRcats.com was $600+$180, Adolph's was $825+$200

I dropped them off at Adolph's today and got $825+$135=$960

This video helped me find the serial numbers
