channel 9 is for if u need help and only have a CB with u, so then u can go to channel 9 and ask someone for help, cuz there is always a cop listening to that channel
it's the emergency channel range, a properly tuned antenna, and a nice unit can reach miles.....and as subaru4 has demonstrated, if you just plug it in and hope, you'll be lucky to reach across the street
Not really. Walkie talkies of the FRS variety don't work very well at that range. Or at least that is what I have seen. If you want one that will be reliable at that range you'll spend alot more than what a CB radio will cost you.

Not a problem. I'll go over proper radio etiquette and we can tune them when we all get them installed. Maybe spend an hour during a Firestone meet discussing it.

YA RLY! OK, I have everyone's money. I guess I should have updated this weekend but I didn't feel like it. I unfortunately have to wait for the money to hit my checking account...3-4 business days (Thank you Paypal.) Once that happens, I will order them up. Probably this coming weekend if all goes well and the money hits my checking account on Friday. If not, they will get ordered possibly on Monday. I'll keep you all posted.
Radios were purchased this morning, Sunday, March 05. They show an est. delivery time of March 17-20. I'll keep you updated as I hear from them. The delivery date might change. Once I know a definate date of delivery, I'll let you all know and then I'll deliver them to Firestone whenever its convenient for you. Probably just keep them in the trunk of my car until they are all picked up.
