Sorry Eli, maybe we can do an evening shoot for the next one, they're open on Saturdays until 9pm. I'd like to take another run at your Remington 700.

Yeah, it needs a new scope. I found out that my reticle moves after a few rounds. Kinda makes sense why I always need to fine-tune it after bringing it anywhere.

    Tasco = suck.

Ok, I've been super excited since I left.

    Desert Eagle .44 Mag

Let me start by saying, that in all my time shooting pistols, I had more fun today doing it than I have ever had ever.
I've always considered DEs a novelty gun. No real purpose other than taking down ferocious bears and making loud noise. But as far as practical, they are not.
Today I learned otherwise. If you can look past the fact that it weighs an astonishing amount, and is far and away bigger than any other semi-auto pistol on the market, it was actually one of the most capable firearms I've ever fired. The size and weight make the 44 mag round entirely managable, if not eerily docile and tame. The .44 Mag is an enormous bullet. And this made it feel as tame as a 9mm round. At times, I even felt like I was recoiling the gun more than it needed to, just out of sheer sympathy for the gun...the gun just looks so menacing, that you expect it to make some big display out of it and to kick the thing into the heavens after every shot. But it just doesn't do that at all. There is little to no jump from the gun, and keeping the sights together between shots is remarkably easy. And that brings me to another point, this thing was easily accurate. Whether or not it is the most accurate gun out there is a point to argue I'm sure, but in terms of shot for shot consistency, it was spot on, every. single. shot. My first two salvos out of the gun, ignoring the frightened first shot, were grouped very tight for what I usually shoot.

My only gripe with this gun, and it really is an easily correctable gripe, is that the sights were black. The rear notch and the front post were hard to line up because in low light with a dull finish black sight, it is hard to tell if you have them together. I'm sure a nice set of night sight glow sights would quickly remedy this, and would probably make that gun ridiculously deadly.

If someone gets a 50AE model of this gun to me, I'd love to shoot it. And I'd be willing to shell out on 2 boxes of ammo for the both of us. But as it stands right now, I dont care how enormous this gun is, or how impractically big and heavy it is for carry, I want one. WANT one.

I can't emphasize enough that it was the most fun I'd ever had shooting a gun.

I think the highlight of my day was watching Ben's wife Katie shoot it. More specifically, the look on her face afterwards when she was asking "Wait, that was it?"

I also would like to try a .50AE just to see what they're like.

Good to see everyone again and thanks for letting me try out some stuff.

I'm still thinking about it, but on my way out I saw they had a USP mark 23 (.45) for $1,600. They are usually $2,300 new. I really just want the tactical model (~$900) but the mark 23 is pretty much the best handgun ever made in my opinion, it's just way too expensive.

Finally. I remember certain members that are posting here making fun of me for saying that I want a .50 A&E Deagle. No, not simply because I'm a Counter Strike nerd -- because I've actually shot one. And, like Jason said... Its amazing. I actually like it better than the .44 mag, because it was actually DESIGNED for the .50 round. Its a little less weighty than the .44, but its actually better balanced.

I didn't want to bother saying all this with nobody to back me up, but I can be forthcoming with it now.

Must be someone elses. I don't have a .22 (I know, a serious problem). I had some 9mm, but it was winchester.

^^Might have been Shortens ammo. Jason had Brians Glock and possibly his Kimber .22 down on the first lane for a little while.

Yup, it's probably mine. I can get it whenever we do the next one. It's ~450 rounds of .22LR in a blue Federal box and a partial box of Swiss surplus 9mm.

Otherwise I can meet up with Will in St Paul in the evening when I get out of work, I'm usually leaving South St Paul between 4:30 and 5pm.
