Comcrap was still down before I left for work this morning at 7:30. The ironic thing is that Qwest came to my door on Saturday letting be know our area is now served by their upgraded fiber optic (not to the house obviously). I was getting really tired of rebooting my moden and router last night. Used my wife's iPhone to get a peak at this thread and saw others were having same issue, so I decided to do something more constructive (tried to post from the phone, but that was another exercise in futility). The DSN posts are making my noob head hurt (glad I didn't see them last night). I'm in tonight too. Maybe...I haven't read the updated first post to see what the new weapon of choice is going to be. Now I pissed away money on Vitz tires that I never used. Phuck Comcast.
To get around the Comcast DNS problem, you have to set the DNS server IPs on your router (or Playstation) to use a different DNS server. The one that everyone seems to be happy with is GoogleDNS. Their IP addresses for primary and secondary are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. On your Playstation you can set the DNS servers under network settings, don't ask me how to get there though, as the menus didn't make any sense. You can usually set custom DNS server information on a broadbad router...again, the menus on each router are different, so I can't help you there. Same with your PC, under network configurations IPv4 settings, you can designate an IP address to use for DNS lookup. On windows XP it's pretty much the same thing except it's under TCP/IP protocol settings.
Also updated event information, engine stages are allowed as long as you don't go over the HP limit. Weight reductions and race prepped cars are still not allowed.
Last night was a good time. Too bad Comcast decided to let our internet fail, and I couldn't join right away. Then, I sign off PSN to go to bed, and the internet comes back. You Suck Comcast! I hate you!
Oh, and for any of you who also hate the in-game music that was provided... Make a custom playlist in the XMB and then select it from your game options screen. Only plays when racing, but by far better than the provided stuff.
I'm gonna have to practice my driftin skills in there, so we can throw down some points challenges if you can do that in the multiplayer.
Well damn, guess I will have to take last place in the racing just so I can hang her sidewayz through some corners!
Make a CD with your music.. pretty sure its gotta be .mp3 format and then just import them onto your PS3 HD. I am also in for tonight.
to play my music and movies on my jump drive i have to hit trigonal buttom when i have it highlighted and select display all other wise it just says that there is nothing on my jump drive idk if that will help you or not. i wish they had pandora that u can run while playing games
Sorry Mix, should have been more specific on that. Take a USB flash drive, make a folder named MUSIC (with all caps). Add your desired files. When you plug it into the PS3, it may take a few seconds to read all the files on it (pending the amount). Hit Triangle (for the options) and it should let you "copy file" and then I think you can hit select all. Once you have music on your XMB, then create a playlist. Doesn't have to be named, but it doesn't hurt. I had one premade from NFS:Hot Pursuit. Go into GT5 options, and find the Audio Options. Find the "RACE BMG" and enable "Custom", then select the playlist you made. Adjust the volume, as your MP3's will most likely be a lot louder than the normal game music. And enjoy your music... but as Subytek pointed out last night, they don't work in the online lobbys. GAY!
Thanks for the detailed instructions as I too was wondering this (I had just been too lazy to Google). I did have to Google "XMB" though.
Yeah, really. i picked one of these up sunday, and it seemed to work well enough. you just need any bluetooth headset, this one was the cheapest i could find locally for only $20 http://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.phtml?Ntt=Q7+Bluetooth&N=0&submit.x=0&submit.y=0
This would be me you are talking to. Again, excuse the ignorance, but any Bluetooth headset/mic will work? And just turning it on will allow you to talk smack to everyone else in the same lounge/race?
I posted a online meet over on MNAutox... the GT5 "Snowpocalypse" Challenge Race starts @ 9:30, i'll be in the lobby starting at 9pm http://www.mnautox.com/forums/showthread.php?15635-GT5-quot-Snowpocalypse-quot-Challenge i'm thinking we may start with a snow rally
hey GT5 lovers, the Logitech wheel designed for GT5 is on sale at best buy for $100 (instead of $150). There is only one left in store in the state of Minnesota - at the Brooklyn Center store. I already claimed the second to last one  ! You can still order online though. also only cost $15 for the two year protection from Best Buy - I know most people think its a rip-off, but I can tell you how many times it has paid off for me.
Sorry, but there is no "official" Logitech wheel for GT5. Polyphony Digital has now partnered with Thrustmaster for GT5.
Polyphony Digital developed the DFGT for use with GT5. It has controls on it specificly for GT5, including that dial that allows you to adjust TCS and other settings while actively driving the car. The lead guy for GT5 even demonstrated it as being developed specificly for GT5.
^^well thanks for clarifying. there is DEFINITELY a learning curve with this thing LOL. I have found that it is IMPOSSIBLE to drive the lotus elise in the second top gear challenge. I haven't messed with the settings yet (besides traction control on the RA menu - I don't know why it defaults to 0) but I am open to suggestions!
Was that released at about the time of GT5 Prologue? That was so long ago, I forgot about that. I thought it came out for GT4. My bad.
Another good night. First actual race. Looks like we have some things to consider for our next races.
1986 MR2 to be exact. 199 hp, 80s ftw. To subytek's credit, he had the lead, but got booted, however I was coming for him, would there have been enough time on the last lap for me to do it? We'll never know.
Now I need a headset. I would very much like to belligerantly and vocally express myself during these races with you goons.
I vote for something FWD, 250 hp max for this week, can be from anywhere, no race mods/lightweight. Should be fairly easy to attain for even the ones just starting out. The best tires, racing super soft. Maybe after the first race we could have a rematch of yesterday for those who want to stick around.
Can't you just set a hp and weight limit? I figured someone else would have won the TK zz by now. It's the first set of license tests.
It was my fault for not setting a weight limit, and instead simply saying "no weight modifications." It opened the door for a "who can find the lightest japanese FR car" race. I don't give much of a damn about getting golds in the licensing races to be honest. I do the final tests till I clear them, regardless of what trophy I get, because the one-bump-you're-out thing pisses me off so much that I cease to care about it. I suppose I could go back and go all golds on the beginner tests, but I hate playing games when they piss me off and frustrate me excessively. And alot of guys just bought this game in time for the last race, they don't have the seat time we do, so they may not have that car. As we progress in the season, we can setup a few later races for higher spec cars. In fact, we should have a GT Championship of our own, similar to the one in Professional Series. Spec'd race cars. For now though, we're going to stick to prize cars as much as possible in a one make setup. It keeps the races based more on driver technique and setups, and less about who can find the best car to race with. I wanted an 80's MR for that last race, and over a week's time, it never showed up in the used lot. Keeping it to prize cars evens the field. More Nascar like, sure, but if we don't do it that way, it becomes too reliant on luck of the draw with regards to available funds, skill level in single player, and availability of used cars. For the next few races, I will tell you what race gives you the car of the week. That way you'll have time to go win that race, get the prize car, give it an oil change and start messing with your mods. The horsepower cap will be used to keep the power reasonable, so beginners wont be left behind because they didn't have the funds to buy all the engine mods and turbo kits that guys with lots of money can afford. I may even set the weight cap at lightweight level 2, that way nobody has to try to figure out how to afford lightweight 3.
