looks like the next time my fat butt gets to ride is saturday. Anyone have any suggestions? can't do redwing...too far. I have to spend some time getting ready for my 1st rallyx event on sunday:eek3:...:yumyum:
As always I am in. Not completely sure of my schedule yet but I can probably do a morning or early afternoon ride on saturday. Leb is always fine, have kind of wanted to check out Mammoth sometime too.
i get married saturday and there is the redwing race saturday id be at if not there, and id be at my buddies secret trails in wisc if not there, and drift day at elko if not at there, and a car show if i wasnt there, and on internet porn if not there. so count me out for saturday. after this weekend though we need to ride! this weather is perfect for biking!
haha sorry! thanks for the congrats though! but next week ill be free to ride.. i better! the weather has been just perfect and im itchin to go. next time i post ill be married.. weird bump for building a new bike with wedding money!
So is Saturday going to happen? If so what time and place sound good? I am up for anywhere, even some freeriding. Otherwise I will likely head to Leb around noon.
well, i sold the demo 9. I went against everything I've said about the bike and keeping it. However, I absolutely fell in love with the 09 specialized sx trail and using the money as a down payment......gawd hopes they make enough for employee purchases and I actually get one.
I just picked up a Specialized Crosstrail, and live less than a half mile from the Lebanon entrance. I need someone to introduce me to terrain like that though, seems a bit intimidating for a n00b.
LOL...Specialized Crosstrail and Leb? You will punish those wheels! However, if you stick to the outside loop you should be fine, just don't try to fly over the logs and such.
It is a 29'er, double-walled and all. I'm still mostly new at this, but if anything needs upgrading, I'd think it's the tires. They have a smooth center for easy tarmac riding, which is the majority of what I do with my wife.
Just the Sport, the base level. I'm loving it so far. Have rode it almost every night since purchasing about 10 days ago (when it wasn't raining).
I hope it can stand up to at least some novice riding over there. It looks like a ton of fun! Mostly this thing will be seeing tarmac/gravel though, as that's what I purchased it for. I just wanted to make sure, as I live so close, that I'd have the ability to do some medium/light off-road as well, which is why I didn't go pure on-road or comfort bike. I like the large frame and 29'er wheels though. Rolls really nice on the rough-ish terrain I've been on so far, which has just been some gravel and loose dirt.
Fishbiker15 and I did the paved baker park loop 2x tonight. Gorgeous night out. I think I am going to need to do alot more riding before I go to Leb.
it sounds to me leb is pretty good huh? Ive never been there and have only seen a few pictures. but looks similar to where I used to ride just outside of Chicago. Saturday morning anyone?
Too far? Your location states Crystal, MN...that's not too far! Once I get another bike I'll start coordinating rides again. That was fun last year, but should be better considering I won't be pushng a 52lb freeride bike with sticky 2.6 downhill tires around the X-country trails:biggrin:
Motobecane Outkast 29 17" ~75mi Bought it to try out the whole SS 29er thing, and didn't like it. $300
I'd be interested in some group rides at Leb. I have been looking for some people to ride with and have not been out there yet this season. When did you guys meet up last year or are planning for this year?
If you catch the mountain biking bug, you'll soon be ditching that bike for a 'real' mountain bike! I occasionally ride my cyclocross bike at Leb--that thing flies up the hills, but those downhills get pretty sketchy. It's much more fun (and safe) on a true mountain bike. I see a lot of people out there on WalMart bikes (and often without a helmet), and not to be a bike snob, but that just seems like begging for trouble. The SS thing is worth trying, but if you're out of shape (which most of us are this time of year!), I might hold off until you get some more miles in, as the riding style requires a lot of power. Definitely PM me if you want an intro ride to Leb--I live in your same neighborhood. It's an outstanding trail...
^^^ a lot of truth in that post, I should probably get out and ride a bit more to get my legs back. although I skateboarded a lot at 3rd Lair this winter so I may not be as bad off as I may think. I'd like to go sooner than later though, I'll defiantly pm you so you can show me around Leb a bit.
I really appreciate the offer! You're talking to a n00b here, but SS=single speed? The bike I picked up isn't a SS. I could see that being a monster workout though. I definitely plan on picking up a helmet before I go over there, as I don't have one yet.
I ride my single speed most of the time while at LEB. My freeride bike is lots of fun, but heavy for the XC riding out there.
what kind of freeride bike? :yumyum: I rode my Demo 9 out there for a season....and i agree...HEAVY:eek3:
I have a Giant XTC AC1 frame that I built like 5 years ago with all Race Face DH and XTR goodies. I had fun picking all the parts and building it completely myself.
This is a couple hours from the Cities, but it looks like a great event. I can't make it as I have to work that weekend, otherwise the wife and I were planning to go. http://www.cambatrails.org/festival-of-the-trails.html 3 days of riding, entertainment, workshops, food, etc. in Northern WI. June 12-14.
Count me in too. It would be fun to ride with other mnsubaru members. I'm available anytime before 1pm M-F and anytime on the weekends.
Is there still a group that goes biking at leb? I would like to get down there more often, I love those trails, i just wish there were more rock gardens.
I did up and by a Cowan DJ/FR bike. I'd love to dink around some weekend if you guys ever organize something. on a side note: am i just getting old, or did pedal kicks get way harder in the last 5 years.??=/
