Sweet Pictures!! Love the fire and lightning!!! Now I really want that D80 I was looking at! I need to get back into photography again. My Dimage 7i can only do so much. My Minolta 400si took better pictures than the Digital piece I have.

Good job on those pics guys!!

I saw some nice lightning tonight, I was outside in my garage and was trying to take some pictures of the storm when all of a sudden lightning hits and it was only like 1 block away.

    Carl or anyone else,
I just picked up a Sony A700 Pro Series DSLR. I am doing a lot of motion photography now with horses, and using my 75 -300 F5.6 lens. My 35 -80 would be better. $2000.00 for the lens I want is a little high after buying this body, but a 300mm lens with F-2.3 would be nice to have!!

Any good places around to do some practice photograpy on moving objects? I feel wierd standing by the road taking pictures of people driving by. I just need to get some of these settings down so pictures turn out a little better. I know my lens isnt helping but whatever I can do would be good!!

how do you like the a700? that thing has a badass vertical grip.

I dunno about where to practice panning - maybe go to some hs/college football or soccer games?

    Carl,
This thing is really nice! NO problems so far. A lot better than what I was used to shooting with.
Yeah I was at a football game last night practicing, it went ok. Im not used to all these settings on these DSLR's Still a lot to play with.

Dave, check out KEH.com. I picked up a 70-200 f2.8 (nikon) lens for 1450 and most places sell them for the 1800 area. You should also hit up the next rallycross.

Russ thanks I will check that out! It may be a while before I get the new lense but it will be worth it when I do!

Carl, I got this camera because of some of the features it has, such as the super steady shot feature, 12.2 mega pixel, and a few other small features. I love the huge screen on the back! Plus all my lenses from my Minolta 400si slr camera mount right up to this one without any issues. I was looking at the Nikon D80 but this camera is a few steps ahead of that. I know Nikon has the D300 coming out soon. But its almost the same camera, plus mine is a little cheaper than that will be. Also all the sensors inside the Nikon are Sony components. So they both share the same parts. I sold everything to NCE but kept my old lenses.

Im still learning this thing and have no Idea what the FPS are in RAW mode. Not sure how fast it shoots with that type of file?

Here is a link for more info on the camera
    http://www.dpreview.com/previews/sonydslra700/

I am also selling my Minolta Dimage 7i if anyone is interested with 3 compact flash cards and 3 filters. Its all digital, and works excellent. I just wanted something a little more versitile for what im shooting now.

Heres a few shots I took today, I still have more settings to play with. These were all zoomed in to 300mm. Not to bad, the sun came out for once, and just atthe right time of day, Sunset.

I really like that last one. the drooping horizon seems to really add value to it (usually drooping horizons just bother me lol).

the tree on the right seems to be suffering from some slight focus issues but not too bad

Here is a newer photo i've taken. I have a few hundred photos of the horses doing the jumps now with me playing with every setup on the camera, I just have to go through them to see which ones finally turned out good. I have some newer pics that are really good finally!
Let me know what you think of this new pic. Pic is from 1.5 blocks away with my 300mm lens.
Anyone know what the picture is of? lol
    Thanks
