That is what Paulasaurusrex is all about... hes posted some nicely done images a couple of posts ahead of yours. I've taken quite a few as well. The beauty of HDR is there is no certain way the photo is supposed to look. You can choose how dark/light/saturated you want everything to look...
love the parking ramp stair well shot. we see those kids of things daily but never take the time to realize how awesome they look.
i use it when its needed most. i dont really understand the obssession people have with it.... too many people dont understand why photographers developed the technique. if done poorly a tone mapped (HDR) photo should look closer to a normal photo. it works best when shooting into bright lite like the sun. and trying to keep the foreground from being a silhouette from the bright light. these Tone mapped images were made with 4-5 shots. all more into the direction of the sun than usual
I have just started to play around with HDR so you're seeing my first attempts. Its definitely not something that I'd use all the time but its fun with photography. For all the HDR images I took I used 3 shots. -2, 0, +2. I've never tried assembling 4 or 5 bracketed images such as Holster has done in a few posts above. For most of them I took a test shot or two to find the base exposure that I liked best then to the final shot bracketed. Great shots HoLsTeR, you've got a super clean looking car. What HDR software are you using Holster? The photo below was taken this fall along the St. Louis river while visiting Jay Cooke state park. I only had the single shot but used some tone mapping to bring out the colors.
^ your photos look great. I was curious how many shots you were using, because I recall reading that the more photos you combine at different WBs the more artificial the picture starts to look. What tone mapping software do you use? did you fork over the $$ for photomatix?
Thanks. I'm much happier with my recent results vs the first few but I finally figured out the settings and got them to work to my advantage. The more exposures you have to combine the wider range of low lights/high lights you'll have in the final image. I'm currently using Photomatix.
^ thanks. I might have to just set my camera up to take -2, 0 and +2 exposures for a while and toy around with some HDR. What version of photoshop are you using? I have CS2 and it isnt the greatest for HDR.
Ya, I don't use photoshop for tone mapping. The photomatix application is the best I have used for hdr. You can "buy" the photomatix plug in for ps if you want, that is what I ended up doing.
cs3 has a really good upgraded batch proscessing system. and i think its worth the money over photomatix. take note that the more photos you take for a photomerge the clearer and less "HDR'y" (fake and newbie) they will turn out. i usually take 5-8 images for one merge.

I'm still learning how to use this camera, but here are a few that I took lately I took this one on the way to work today. I'll do some photo shopping later. took this one this morning (11/19/8)
Hover Suby Digging through some older pictures. My car in hover mode this fall during the wheel painting. And yes that is just a little overspray on the floor. I has good painting skillz Also a shot of the finished wheel.
There has been a hawk visiting our place on occasion now. I am trying to get some good shots of it, but the light is always weird. Also it is kind of hard to get outside and ready without it flying off. I guess hawks have good eye sight and hearing, who would have thought ;-) lol
hey, wait a minute. Why is your license plate only half-swirley? I would like to see that same shot from a lower perspective.
It is kinda of interesting how the new front end kind of resembles the GC style front end. I have never seen the two side by side, but it makes me like it more.
definitely not my pic... but canonshooter's pic from over on forester forums... from the ice storms that hit a few weeks ago near him...
Wow, fantastic ice shots. Gonna have to remember to get out and shoot next time a storm such as that rolls through
Those are fantastic shots of the ice. I love how you can see the texture so well. I wonder what lens he was using.
Well, he shows up without fish and we have random cats wondering the back yard. So I think he is good to go for a while. Russ
DeeGee, Well done, I like those! Were those prints and turned into digital images, or are the white specs snow? I'm talking about those specs to the right of the spoiler in the 2nd one.
No, it's snow. I was able to shoot right when it began to flurry a little. It was nice And Dynapar wins, hakka rsis .
that's kinda what I thought, but I remember shooting film and if the negative was dirty, it looked like that. I lost points in photo class for that... MAN!!! The Black BBS's with the red stripe is HOT!!!
