Well, I'm thinking I'm out with the Miata. The fab shop needs, they say, at least a two week lead time to fabricate one. If another such day happens later on this year, I may be in.
I'm guessing nearly every tool needed to keep a shop up and running but, not sure on those two. Spring compressor should be available for rent at most parts places....maybe? Haven't got a clue if they turn rotors, I'm sure someone around here may know.
This. Plus the fact that there's one right on the other side of the highway from RS. Expect about an hour to turn rotors, provided there's someone there who can do it, which is not true of all stores. Last time I was in that one I would have been seriously surprised if either of the two counter people I saw could do it. I'd call them before you start on the car and see.
I got the kartboy shifter bushings and tranny mount when I got my short throw. I put the shifter in but never got the bushings in if theres still time In the day Id love to get those installed. And a few gauges if I get them in time (boost and EGT) Id love to help out with what ever else I can too.
If I can get my motor down there would the replacement of some camseals be doable? At that time we could go over making sure timing is correct and what not. Motor is already pulled FYI
I'm not the one to answer that. It does sound easy w/motor pulled but it's also sounds a bit borderline free shop work on my stuff for me and less DIY mod day. I know they've done lots o work for you so I'll let Matt and Ron figure that out. BUMP for anyone else, think-warm place for a cabin filter swap, tire rotation, speaker install etc. Maybe you've never seen what goes on under your car, come on down and learn a thing or two. That goes for some of you pros too, c'mon down and share some of you knowledge with others. This is a great chance to get out meet a few people, turn a wrech or two, get a bite to eat and go home happy that mnsubaru and RS Motors have some great people here with common interests.
yeah either way is fine. I just figured it might be helpful for people who want to learn about putting on timeing belts and correctly and such. and shown how to do it the CORRECT way
So, I'm really thinking about coming down to put on my injectors. Since this does not require a lift, is there a good chance I could get some room in the shop right away in the morning? I have something else tentatively scheduled that evening, so if there isn't a good chance to me getting shop time in the morning, I probably wouldn't be able to make it. I am thinking I could handle most of the work myself, but having people around to give me pointers if I get stuck will make me feel a bit more comfortable going at this. I realize this could take several hours, so I don't want to monopolize the shop floor time if there are other people that need the room too. Thoughts?
We have spring compressors. Rotors would need to be sent out to O'rilley's to get turned if they do it on Saturdays. Sounds like it will fit into an hour to get your bushing and mount done. Might want to go at that first and see where you are after you get that done. PM'd I would think you could get them done in the morning. My worry is have you made arrangements to make the necessary adjustments to you tune to run these injectors? We are not planning on tuning or dynoing any cars. I have some plans on that evening as well. I will not want people to start anything they can't finish after 3pm.
Yes. If I decide to go, then Nuke would meet me and tune my car immediately after I get the injectors in. Thank you for checking, I'd hate to do all that work and then not be able to drive the car out of the shop. I think this sounds like a plan. I'll shoot for getting there early with injectors in hand!
It looks like I can show up with some tools. I'll bring what I can fit in a portable box, which includes many sockets, four styles of ratcheting wrenches, etc. I'll be ready to throw down if necessary.
Just days away now! Benny, The Google maps link you posted is not correct use another site. Remember folks bring your own tools if you plan on working on your car. Yes we will provide tools that some may need but it would be quicker if you have your own selection as well.
I'll be there with my socket set, and a few other random tools. I plan on doing all of the injector swap work myself, but I may need a few pointers along the way!
If I come I have a full set of sockets deep and shallow. But I may not tke them out depending on how many people come because if there iis a lot of people working I know what will happen..
woohoo! My svx radiator is supposed to be here tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it installed and running in time for Saturday. If not, I'll still show up to help.
So my boss came up to me and informed me I'll be working Saturday and Sunday. I'm still gonna try and make it out by 3:30 if I can. Hopefully that's not to late?
I got bored and did my steering rack bushings yesterday, so all I can find to do is my group n motor mounts. Pros, Is this a doable job? I've never done it before but I've got a head start as I noticed yesterday one of the bolts is missing. ?????
I have 40 cans of mountain dew to bring for everyone. But no cooler. Any chance someone who will be there at the beginning can bring a cooler and ice?
Planning on being there right from the start to do my injectors. I think I'll bring my cordless Dremel along just in case the brackets of death give me any trouble... I think I have the ability to get this done, I just don't know all of the things I need to get out of the way to make it happen. I know quite a few things have to come out, but I have heard a lot of people can get the injectors out without touching the intake manifold. Hopefully some knowledgeable people can help me out!
I'll have enough strategic tools so you don't have to cut anything. Besides, taking a Dremel to those brackets is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Work-hardened steel can be tough if you don't have many amps of current behind the tool. When I get there, I'll find out who needs the most help to get out the door at the required time and go from there.
Alright, got the radiator in (had to pull the bumper cover and bumper beam and cut a dozen zip ties lol), fixed the battery terminal, and put joshs winter tires on. Went fast with jackstand's help. If the hood decides to close and the new radiator doesnt blow up on the way to get gas tmw morning i'll have the subaru there for carpet install.
***Crossing fingers that my work phone will stay quiet for a few hours today. I've been up all morning with BS calls already.
