For example if the car is relativly old and got hit by hail it will most likely be totaled if the car is new and expencive it might get totaled as well.
If the car is new and expensive then it WILL NOT need to be totaled. We had a very bad storm go through two years ago including a tornado 1/4 mile away. Every one of our vehicles was hail damaged, and guess how many we totaled? Zero. None. We hired in crews to do paintless dent repair, or we replaced panels that couldn't be PDR'd. There were far fewer cars that needed new panels. Once again, you're missing the math involved in totalling a car.
Here's the math.... New WRX: 24,100 Hail Damage: -2100(roof replacement) Not salvaged. 94 Buick Regal: 2100 Hail Damage: -2100 (roof replacement) Salvaged.
yeap, exactly. With hail damage, if its bad, it could be more than just a roof replacement. Hood, will run 650 painted, trunk another 400+ painted and other panels will cost a lot of money to PDR. So if the car is not very new it can get totaled right away. And considering that insurance companies total cars when the need repair that will cost 75% of the value of the car. However some states have it at even lower percentage. Hail damage sucks.
It's mostly directed at some other people in here. They are being asses for no real reason other than to give you a hard time.
