True. But Harley's marketing has really pushed the loud pipes. Also, I think there is a misperception among consumers in genera that a part bought at a dealer must be legal. Do they actually tell people (rather than sticking it in the fine) that "It is illegal to run this on the street?" That's an officer education issue. Due note that the one place an EPA legal exhaust can get a noise violation is if it's failing a municipal noise law that attacks all sources. (For example, nothing over 80db after 10PM)
Cop haters will always be unhappy. Someday you will understand, until then you will believe you have been targeted. I have nothing but respect for anyone that chooses to put on the uniform.
