Thanks! No plans to race it. I am having huge traction issues currently that need to be resolved before I even consider taking it near a track to set some times. I may end up going with a smaller turbo and giving up some power to bring a bit more balance to the build. Currently it smokes the drag radials through 5th and leaves two long strips of rubber down the highway even when rolling on the throttle at 100+
I just came... buckets! That is a very clean build and in a rare notchback too. What rear end are you running? Rear suspension? Both may play a huge part in traction.
Rear end is an 8.8 with 3.73 FR carbon carrier. As for rear suspension, KB upper and lower control arms along with KYB AGX shocks and H&R springs
Do you have the KB 'Anti-Squat Traction Brackets'? What spring rates are you running? Do you have a drag-spec (street/strip) swaybar? If not, that can make a big improvement in loading the rears.
I'll bet!!! Looks like my car's twin but much nice. For sure the engine bay is cleaner. http://www.mnsubaru.com/threads/members-rides.105/page-23#post-714842
what are you using for boost control? sounds like you need something that can ramp boost how you want it to come in? have you looked into a ams1000 or 2000 boost control system?
I use AEM tuner to set my boost targets. I'm working with the tuner to make some adjustments currently.
It would be sweet to use ABS sensors to detect rear wheel slip and use that as another input to the boost controller...
Not a bad idea, I see that there are a number of people using sensors on the front wheels to set boost targets related to speed but I'll probably just take the simple route and dial down the boost once the novelty of 100mph burnouts wears off (aka probably never)
Well I did sell my Viper recently and have been trying to think of a new project....... Honestly I'm leaning more towards something from Maranello
I'm sure he's aware already, but 3.73 rear gears are incredibly aggressive for a V160/161 transmission. The original rear end they came with was a 3.133 and a 3.26. I'm not sure what options you have for gears in back, but something like that would help out a bunch in the traction department!
Whaa, that's not a photo chop. I own two of them, that's the blu one. Ya broke cornflake hatur! Super clean looking install you have there! Nomnomnom
With the exception of changing the exhaust and a few alcantara interior accents, I'm done messing with the car. It's mind bendingly fast and will never see the track in my hands. I have what I wanted (a unique "F-U" highway monster)
