Dirty Harry Callaghan would be so proud, he used a 629 as well. I think I remember reading somewhere that it became one of the most popular selling handguns in the US after the first Dirty Harry movie.

    Nice find Ben!

^^^Thanks, technically he carried a model 29 but it looks like the 629 is just a stainless version-close enough for me though.

I know what you’re thinking: “Did he fire six shots, or only five?†Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?†Well do ya, punk? I love it!

^^^Couple of nice shotguns! I picked up a Ruger LCP at Gander Mtn last night. I've always wanted one of these little .380's. May not be the ultimate "man stopper" but for those days where it just gets dropped into a pocket and forgotten it's tiny size will be nice. No pics yet but If you've done any looking at guns in the last couple years you've seen one.

Nice, I was just looking at a nice Remington premier over under 20gauge at Gander on Monday, I still wishing at this point.

This is one of my Favorites, the super nova is quite nice too.

I love my .32 I always have it on me, even at church with dress pants its easliy hidden in my pocket, The 380's are powerful and the LCP are very accurate (in the 380 class).

    ^^^^Cool!

I finally had a chance to shoot the LCP and the .44 yesterday. I was expecting a bit more bite from the little lcp but it wasn't bad at all. The .44 was awesome! It's always fun when you turn around and everyone has backed out of their lanes wondering what was creating so much noise.

Thought I'd post up pics of my AR in it's current configuration:

It's a Lewis Machine and Tool MRP CQB. For optics I'm running an EoTech 512 and a 3x EoTech Magnifier on a flip to side mount. (the top picture is flipped, the bottom is locked in) I've also got Magpul folding "irons", and a Surefire X400 light/laser. The foregrip is a TangoDown QD, and the grip is an Ergo Deluxe. I've also got a Magpul BAD lever, a PWS 556 muzzle brake and a Blue Force Gear VCAS sling to round it out.

I'm probably going to be changing the muzzle brake to a Battlecomp 1.0 if any of the AR owners would be interested in picking up my PWS. The people on the board who've shot it can attest to it keeping recoil on this to a minimal amount, not that a 5.56 has a lot of recoil anyway.

My next rifle is going to be an FN SCAR Heavy, and I'm hoping to pick up one of the FNP-45's in a month or so.

On the "Chart" they are listed as doing it, but it's never a bad idea to double check.

As far as the optics go, I'm really happy with them. I know Aimpoints have a better battery life, but I prefer the Eotechs reticle. I think I may pick up one of the XPS-2s to save a bit of weight and put my 512 on my 590A1. The 3x magnifier is great for longer distance shots, and the mount seems to be pretty solid. I highly recommend this setup. I was also considering an Aimpoint Micro T-1 on a Larue mount over a 4x32 ACOG, but I already had the Eotech.

On my own firearms front, I picked up two 33 round mags for my Glock 34 tonight. I figured I might as well in case they decide to go after high cap mags again.

Bills also has my next pistol, an FNP-45 Tactical with a Trijicon RMR already mounted. If it was in flat dark earth instead of stainless/black, I might have taken that one home.

    WWII Nazi Pistol

My dad gave this to me it was my grandpas, its a Polish Radom. It has both polish and Nazi makers marks leading me to believe it was made by the polish then when Poland was seized by The Nazis they re stamped and issued it, so i think it was made sometime from 1935 to 1940 because the 35 pistols are different and after the Nazis took over production they became very cheaply made . It is missing the firing pin, safety and some other parts. I plan on restoring it to working condition.

Hey guys I have a quick question.
I've been given the green light to start an AR build and I'm wondering if I should go with a cheaper(but still meeting my requirements) lower online and have it shipped to a shop($15) or buy one locally that I can visually check out first. Seems there is about a $50-75 premium to buying local.

Also for Martin, in case you haven't seen, SA released a XDM .45, for real this time.

Hmmm, if moneys really tight you have an easy answer.(should somehow be able to return it if its super bad...right?) Otherwise if a few bucks isn't gonna hurt too bad I'd support a local shop. It'll give you the peace of mind that the part is nice and you help them out. Bill's GS gave me a range token when I got my RRA lower, that's 15 buck or so right there.

I love my XDm but would likely get a 1911 when I'm shopping for something in .45

Can't help w/the pic uploading thing but I do agree we need a few new ones. I have nothing new to share, I have recently been trying to talk myself into an M1A of some sort.

I've been thinking about a Blackwater 930 SPX. I already have a Mossberg 500 pump, but it's a 20 gauge model and I can't get the extended magazine package for it.

IMHO, there is no better home defense firearm than a shotgun. At 20 ft, 1.25 oz of No. 7 birdshot will take care of business without taking care of the neighbors.

For home defense, get a cheap pump. Keep it clean and it will work. Spending an outrageous amount of money on a tactical auto shotgun eliminates the most useful part of the weapon. The noise of it racking. put the bolt forward on an empty chamber, drop the firing pin, and load the plug. Keep the safety off so that when you need it, large motor skills can operate it with your adrenaline pumping.

Take it from a guy who carries one everyday for work, actually firing the shotgun doesnt happen. If a person doesn't do what you say the first time simply by seeing the weapon, they will do it after they hear you chamber one.

edit: you have a cheap pump piddster. Didn't see that in the post. The blackwater would be a pretty baller gun for goose hunting though

It's that time of year again. Bill's shooter's show next weekend. It's a great chance to try a few things you may be shopping for or just to play with a gun without the rental/range fee. I'm probably gonna go early on friday to avoid some of the standing in line.

^^^^ I'm game(+wife and likely another friend). We've done a few get togethers there before as well as the Robbinsdale location. Brian Shorten has been the one to traditionally set them up but, anyone could put one together.

Anyone else interested in a little shooting action? New to guns is OK as well as the most experienced marksmen. there is normally everything there from .22s to 12g shotguns and more.

I would be up for setting something up sometime soon, from past experience it's usually best to start planning these a month or so out to get the dates ironed out and maximize the amount of people who can come.

I haven't been in this thread for a while, I traded my Sig Sauer for a S&W M&P .45 fullsize.

Dan, I would highly advise against using birdshot for self defense. There are a number of ballistic studies that have been done regarding the effectiveness of it and it is highly unsuitable for it. Unless you're being attacked by a grouse, you're much better off using buckshot. Using birdshot is putting yourself at unnecessary risk as the likelihood of getting enough penetration to the vital organs to put the bad guy down quickly is severely diminished. There are plenty of good buckshot loads that will do the job properly. If you are to the point where you're sending rounds downrange then you want to be damn sure they aren't going to go anywhere but down.

Just a couple of my firearms; a Spike's Tactical ST-15 mid-length with an EOTech 512, UTG quad-rail, and adjustable foregrip and a police-issued Glock 22 (.40 S&W). Also have a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel for the Glock...works great! I'd definitely recommend it!

I've also got a Mosin Nagant 91/30 built in 1942 that has an original PU scope and elongated sniper bolt. Whoever owned that rifle before me definitely knew what they were doing when they converted it to a sniper. Trigger is also great for what it is, nice distinct click right before it fires.

1911 is next on my list for pistols.... kimber custom is just such a perfect fit... however para does have a high capacity that i'd love to check out, just not sure about the double stack on a 1911... might be a little bit bulky in the hands....

Jack, I highly recommend the Sig 226 and 229. The only reason I traded the Sig for the .45 M&P is because I was tired of paying for .357SIG ammo. 30 bucks for a box of practice ammo is tough to stomach every time I head to the range. Odds are, the M&P may be going away for a H&K P30L. I fell in love with one last Saturday at the range. I will own another Sig again, most likely a 226 variant.

I've actually been coming back around on the 9mm cartridge. There are plenty of great duty loads out there for carry and 15-17 rounds of capacity makes a great argument.

I can't bring myself to buying anything in 9mm. Check your PM's Brian - I'm sending you my "why" comments instead of posting here.

I really liked the Sigs I've shot. I personally find that there is a much bigger advantage to a comfortable weapon than an overly reliable one. If I can do the hard stuff: Sweep, draw to workspace, safety, sights and fire, I'm in much better shape getting off a couple rounds than never getting the draw, grip, and sights right. All with sweaty hands, heart rate through the roof, my hands numb, and tunnel vision...I don't mind keeping the gun clean and greased.

Anyways, my glocks (except the 26) are probably going to see my tail lights once I find a good Sig. I couldn't believe how brickish a glock feels after firing the Sig, and how big they are in your hand/small in the holster they feel. I dig it. Who here wants a glock 22 more than they want their Sig? Any hand raisers?

Forgot to add: I'm torn between the .40 and the .45 ACP. I need to spin myself up on ballistics on both, but I'm loving the .40 that I've had. Good balance between capacity, lead, velocity, and recoil. The .45 leaves you with a single stack and half the rounds of the 9 but its going to make up for it in the way a sledge hammer compares to a tire iron. I love the .45 ACP round, except for the fact that they like to go THROUGH things. Thats great when I'm not worried about the two layers of vinyl siding and drywall separating my rounds from the neighbors kids. The negating point to that is you train to fire less rounds and run into cut the numbers of lead balls in the air. After all, no one here is gangster gripping a "gat" from a moving escalade.
