    PM returned Sir ;)

Check out www.M4Carbine.net for some great ballistics writeups, there are a number of industry experts who are on that board and have some great articles on carry loads. Specifically, what works and what doesn't. The divide between 9mm, .40 and .45 isn't as much as you might think. It really comes down to the round and the platform it's being fired from. The same bullet will perform differently coming from a 3in barrel than a 5in barrel.

    http://www.m4carbine.net/forumdisplay.php?f=91

Speaking of ballistics, have you seen the new 300 Blackout round for the AR platform? It's meant specifically for short barreled and/or suppressed platforms. .30cal bullet, it hits like a full on .308 inside of 200 yards. Definitely a close in round, but you only have to change your barrel. It utilizes a 5.56 case necked out to take a .30cal bullet, so the bolt and mags stay the same and the capacity stays the same as well. I'm in the process of doing an NFA stamp so I can convert my LMT to an SBR with a 10.5in barrel. The quick change barrel capability on my LMT just got that much sweeter.

Some day the military is going to come around to multi caliber weapons that utilize the same platform. This constant procurement and offloading of perfectly good fire arms is just silly. The idea that we don't train on a base that can utilize a 7.62 long barrel and swap out to a 5.56 shortie is beyond me.

Any chance someone has a DPMS claw type vice block or clamshell for an AR upper holder I could borrow/rent/buy?

Carl, when did you get the GSG and where did you get it? Sounds like you took care of your 1911 and your .22 in one purchase ;)

That Kimber .22 of mine is too much fun. I'll have to give the GSG version a try and see how it compares.

got it from gun stop yesterday - going to hit up Bill's tomorrow at opening to put rounds through it. The thumb trigger has a very sharp corner, that's been my only complaint so far - pulled it apart and filed it down today. otherwise gun seems quite solid, magazines are metal and have a good heft too

doesn't seem to care what ammo it gets fed (I shot 4 types ranging from CCI to cheapo remington). Fit and finish is awesome for how inexpensive this gun is.

Now we just have to find you a nice pump action shotgun and you're set. I saw Bill's has a used 870 Wingmaster for less than 200, I also have a friend who is looking to sell one as well. The Wingmasters are great guns, and if you want you can swap out different barrels and stocks depending on what you want to use it for. The Wingmasters are much nicer on the fit and finish over an 870 Express and the older ones are smooth as butter when cycling the slide.

I told you, it never ends at "just one" :)

I looked at this same pistol and the chiappa brand one as well for quite awhile before I actually picked up my Beretta neos

    Nice purchase

If you haven't looked into the GSG too much, do some research because i did find a forum that said there was a failure point on the gun, I want to say if was the hammer, that over time would start to stress and crack... I think it was on the earlier models but not sure... Just throwing it out there, and it generally was on guns with HIGH round counts, ie. 15,000+

    red dot.jpg

got an early xmas present from my Dad this weekend... red/green dot options, single power with a thread on 2 power multiplier. Also has options on MOA...

I still need to get low profile rings for it as the one that came with it sits WAY to high, but I had to slap it on and try it out.
I did manage to get it half way dialed in on Saturday, sub 3" groups at about 20 yards in 5-10 mph gusts.... with Federal bulk ammo

I can't wait for some Real range time on a calm day with quality ammo

It's the guide rod/recoil rod that is known for failure (often after only 100 rounds). I have about 1000 rounds through mine now with no issues

Is the guide rod interchangeable with other 1911's or is it just a GSG part?

I'm surprised that the guide rod would snap, that's a pretty low stress part especially with something like a .22LR round.

Love the butttstock, Need's an upgraded grip, unless you like the stock one. Nice free floating barrell. It must be the angle because that barrel looks hella longer than 16" I shoot pmc for plinkin, cheap and zero issues for me. The 62 gr steel core is cheap but good quality as well.

It's the angle, collapsed stock and long flash hider.
I need to get to the range soon as I picked up some crap steel cased ammo to try out. Curious if it will see any issues with that.

Anyone have the CMMG .22lr conversion kit. Sounds like most people like them but I wouldn't mind trying one out before buying...

Sold all mine, was ****ty and would expand in the barrel and not extract. Went through 1 extractor and sold the rest of the ammo. Was the tula and wolf crap.

Hey TJ, if you happen to come across an M68 CCO that needs a home let me know ;)

I usually run EOTechs but there's nothing wrong with an Aimpoint.

well at the drawdown rate, and with the equipment being reorganized the army usually finds grinding up parts more cost effecient then sending them home? So if they magically appear near me...I might be able to fill your request...;) but it wasn't me:rolleyes:

The standard is no longer something I apply to the army...they don't follow a "Standard" anymore...I like most of my fellow soldiers have the CCO (Red Dot for those COD fans) and the ACOG's are only used with SAW's mostly and a handful of squads... I don't mind, I think I'd prefer the CCO over the ACOG anyways, I like how it is set up, but nothing beats the old Ironsights when it comes down to it ;)

Well I'm just looking to expand my current contacts to hopefully a person that carries the equipment to the grinder and happens to "Drop" a few sights along the way ;) I still don't understand the purpose of destroying the equipment rather then giving it to soldiers to either ship home themselves or just selling it locally? I know of at least 1 brand NEW Diesel motor (With turbo) that was grinded up! Really?! I could have taken the Turbo at least! haha it would have made a nice paper weight!

The Aimpoints and EOTechs are both designed to work with both eyes open. I prefer the reticle on the EOTech, but the Aimpoint is pretty simple. Both will work with a magnifier so you're adding to the flexibility of the sight. My rifle has folding irons that'll cowitness with the EOTech as backups.

Will, check out the Glock 19, a Sig 228/229 and a S&W M&P. Any of those would make a great carry pistol.

The USP is a a great pistol, but $$$. The fullsize is a bit large for most people for carry, the new P30 would be the 9mm HK that I'd recommend.

I'm looking at either an FNP Tactical or an HK45/P30L for my next pistol.
