Bumping this one, someone in Taras thread had mentioned not having a thread where we could post up pics of firearms. It's why I started this one, so keep them coming guys. Let's try to keep it to discussion of firearms, not the "OMG Guns are BAD!!!" mentality. Start your own thread for that, we prefer to hold things that make bang bang and put holes in things.

Did you say you picked up that shotgun used from NDHP for $150? If so, I'd be all over that.

And we need to organize a weekend trip to the wilderness to shoot. The last one I went on was sooooo much fun- and scary! :eek4:

    140, actually ;)

Picked up the stock for 100 new and got a Blackhawk sling on it now that holds 15 shells for 17. To buy this whole package retail would be close to 700 or so. Now I just need to get a shell carrier/rail for it and an EOTech or Trijicon sight for it and it'll be a very fun tool indeed.

Just curious - what does it take for one to become a firearm owner, besides the obvious (money).

It's pretty straightforward. You'll need to go to your local PD and ask for the paperwork for a permit to purchase a firearm. You'll fill that out (it's a background check, so you'll want to have your previous addresses, etc) and then turn that into them. There's no charge, they'll do the check and send you the permit if you qualify for it (ie no dishonorable/bad conduct discharge from the military, not a convicted felon/wanted for domestic abuse/stalking, etc, no mental illness history) through the mail. Then you just take the permit to whatever gun store you're shopping at and purchase your firearm. You'll need to be over 21 to purchase a handgun, over 18 for a long gun (rifle/shotgun).

Boomer, I love the collection! What kind of stock is that on your 10/22? I keep telling myself I need to go get one of those, they are too fun to pass up and the price on them is so reasonable.

Bird shot is just as effective at home intruder range and you have less drywall damage to fix.

    My stuff:
Savage Stevens 311E 20 gauge side by side
    Mossberg 500 12 gauge pump
Browning B-80 12 gauge semi auto
FEG 12 gauge over and under
    Ruger 10/22 .22 semi auto
    Colt .32 semi auto
    Ruger Mini30 .30 (ak47 round) semi auto
    Sheridan .20 pellet pump

Missing is a Beretta Cougar 9mm pistol (at my brothers) and a Remington 7400 30-06 semiauto at my folk's.

Pics from the last time I was at the 2-way shooting range.

    M4 w/Aimpoint M68 and ARMS-2 flip up backup site, M9

    M4 w/ACOG NSN and Harris bi-pod, M9

Also carried a M500 Mossberg 12ga, 14" barrel and dual pistol grips (door popper)

No pictures of my personal weapons but..
    Marlin 336ck 30-30 w/Aimpoint M68
    1938 K98 8mm Mauser w/all markings
    New England single-shot 12ga
    Winchester 870 Ranger 12ga
    1947 Remington single-shot .22

The Army/USAF still uses a heavily modified variant of the Remington M700, dubbed the M24. Chambers a A136 7.62mm round (aka .308 Winchester) It is the same as the 7.62mm NATO that is fired by other weapons, but is match grade. We also still fire the under rated, and seldom heard of M21, which is an accurized M14, which chambers the A136 as well. It is a beautiful weapon, but lacks the knock down power beyond 800m that is sometimes needed. We mostly use it in urban or tightly wooded areas.

The USMC has moved from the M24, and is now utilizing the M40A1. The M40A1 is the first standard issue sniper weapon system that was purpose built for accurate fire.

The M82 (.50cal) is an amazing rifle, and a blast to fire. I see NO reason that any civilian should ever own one. Damn that hippy attitude!

    target rich environment

Computers are my business, shooting them up is fun. Sometimes clean up requires a shovel. They also don't shoot back. Don't really care for that two way range business.

Shot mine today, just once though. Damn farm cat keeps coming over to my house and fighting with our cats. He paused from his running just a bit after I came out.

    pause = dead cat

Thanks, once our tax rebate checks get here my wife will be shopping for a handgun to add to the collection. She is thinking about a glock but I'm trying to talk her into a sig millspec. The stock on the 10/22 is a Buttler Creek. You can pick one up at Sportsmans' Wharehouse or Cabellas. I primarily shop at Sportsmans' Woodbury because my dad works the gun counter. He is out for three weeks after his ankle surgery but once he is back if someone wants to talk guns or make a purchace ask for Dave he'll point you in the right direction. He used to run an armory when he was in the Army and really knows his stuff. If someone is interested I cam get a hold of some passes for the afterhours Friends and Family sale Sportsmans' is having on the 23rd. Everything is up to 20% off that night but you have to have a pass to get in. Good time to stock up on ammo or make a gun purchace.

Martin, thanks for the offer. I'll likely be picking up a 10/22 before too long, and I have lost count of how many rounds I've sent downrange via the ol Ruger express.

Boomer, do yourself and your wife a favor and check out the Springfield XD line as well. I'm one of those people who can't stand a Glock due to the grip angle and trigger (I'm a 1911 guy, we're spoiled that way ;) ) and if I were looking at something in that price range I'd be all over the XD. Not to mention the fact they come with their own light, holster and extra mags and the .45ACP is a 14 round capacity make for a very tempting package. I am debating getting a new gun with my check as well, but I'm torn between the Kimber Warrior and the HK USP .45 Compact Tactical. They're both about the same price and fundamentally about the same pistol. I'll own both one day, I just can't decide which to buy first.

Wakaba, if you could somehow snag me an M4 and that Trijicon NSN sight I'd be eternally grateful ;)

If I remember correctly most guns are 8 to 10% off. Not to bad of a discount. Brian: If you want to try out my 10\22 with the folding stock let me know we can meet up at a range. It looks like we might have to put together a big group shoot/competition some time. Lots of shooters on here.

^ So can you get me one of those when you come back? I have always wanted one. I will give you $$$ :)

If they are doing some C&C laws then i will get mine soon. the minnetonka gun club offers a course which is recognized by 20 other states. i think its $100 to take it. I will probably do this.
