My Glock does have a Grip Force Adapter to bring the grip angle a bit closer to a 1911. I agree with you on the angle, it just doesn't feel right to me.

If I were choosing between those two, I'd go with the AR Pistol. I don't trust 1911's in anything less than a fullsize.

Lookin' good! Can you use the irons with the ARMs mount? Also it looks like the contour of the VXR fits perfectly over the rear peep.

I just picked up a Gamo Whisper for some backyard vermont fun action. Starting my boys young with these, they're shown some pretty good marksmanship so far.

    Where did you find it?

I've been realizing that I don't have any pellet/BB guns and it's a hole in the collection I'd like to fix. They're just plain fun.

At Cabela's brother. She's accurate, quite, powerful and you'll get a workout. One pump is all it takes to get the fun started. 1300fps. We've been eating wabbit stew all weekend. lol It's got a clean 3.5lb trigger, and the scope is clear as day.

I couldn't believe how far this technology has come, it's impressive.

I'll have to head up there one of these days.

Of course, I can get a Red Ryder on Amazon for 30 bucks, but I might shoot my eye out.

Anyone here currently using a product called Frog Lube for cleaning their hardware? I just saw a video on it and it looks really good.

I've heard decent things about it.

I use a couple of different ones, Machine Gunners Lube is a great oil, and Mad Dog XF7 for when I want a grease instead of an oil.

CLP is ok, but there are better products out there. Also look at Slip 2000 EWL, I've heard great things about that. The problem with CLP is that it doesn't do a very good job of cleaning, lubing or protecting. In some circles it's referred to as 3 lies for the price of one, much like an MRE.

I've also seen people use Mobil 1, no joke. Some people swear by it.

Well wth! I was with hott Carl and Martin and they said that it was pretty good. Martin did in fact say that HE orders Slip 2000 EWL online from Wisconny tho...

I loaned the Sig and XDm to Dean for Saturdays event, he had Derp bring them back for me. Brett cleaned them both for me and did an awesome job! Army guys maticulous cleaning methods ftw.:D

It's better than nothing, and it will do the job but there are better products out there.

Don't worry about it too much, you'll find that gun owners tend to try a bunch of different ones before they settle on something they like.

MPro-7 is another solid choice to look at for their cleaning/lubricating products.

I've also used Miltec with decent results, that would be another one you could check out. It's a drier lube than some of the others I've listed.

I just want to know what the "best stuff that you can buy" is, so i can get that. I have been using the Remoil, which i feel isn't luby(lol) enough. Maybe i'll just get a quart of Mobile 1 and call er a day. hahaha I can't afford to waste money on junk stuff. Guns are expensive enough as it is without throwing money away on garbage lube/cleaners!

Cleaningwise, I've been using either the MPr0-7 or Hoppes Elite.

Lubewise, I would go with the MPro-7, Machine Gunners Lube, Slip 2000 EWL, MadDog XF7 or Militec. You'll be good to go with any of those.

No, I've seen that at places around here. Gander Mountain, Cabelas, Streichers all should have it.

On a firearm related note, I just ordered a new M&P barrel in 9mm for my .357SIG and have 3 magazines waiting for me at Streichers. Hello cheap practice ammo!

Right now I am using Subaru LSD oil on the bolt for my .17HMR. It runs super smooth, and gives that satisfying gear oil smell. For a few times I ran Rotella T6 5W40 in my AR, and it worked just fine although it can be a little slimy. My dad has been using Mobil 1 on his AR-15 for a while as well.

Bravocompanyusa.com http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/SLiP-2000-EWL-p/slip2000 60320.htm Great site with fast shipping.

I do really like the Slip2000 EWL. I noticed that the powder fouling cleans up really fast after a few cleanings with it. This has fast become my #1 choice for a gun lube.

All sorts of good news today....

I just got the word from Raven Concealment this morning that my holster for my M&P is entering the production queue and should be out in the next 2-3 weeks or so. I had one made to accommodate my X400. I'll have pics and a review up once I get it in. I've also got one in the process for my HK45C that is still a couple of months out.

That could be a while. I'm not in a huge hurry because once I buy it I'm going to have to put another 150 or so into it before I'm willing to use it. The trigger guard has to be reshaped, HK really screwed that up on the full size. There is a groove that the trigger fits into that isn't present on the compact, after 25 rounds or so I have a blister starting on the bottom side of my trigger finger when I shoot the fullsize. I'd be sending it down to David Bowie at Bowie Tactical Concepts to have it reshaped and some trigger work done. The compact is scary accurate and has one of the best out of the box triggers I've ever used.

HK. Because you suck and we hate you.

Actually, they've gotten better over the years. I've never had to deal with their customer service but I've read that it has improved.

The trigger guard on the fullsize HK45 is an anomaly, it's the only fault I've been able to find on their products. The prototypes actually were very similar to the compact, just slightly larger. They changed the grip toward the end of the prototype phase. It's great except for the trigger groove.

I started sighting it in yesterday, still more to go. i put it on the .22 as well for the lulz

very pleased with the brightness of the light and the ease of use of the controls for my giant fingers...i wish the laser was green already.

some internal spring took a sht. pleased with the customer service, I paid nothing, overnight shipping only thing lame was it covered a weekend so it took a little longer. should be good for another 20,000 rounds...

did you get the x400 w laser? if so have you worked on sighting it?

and now i kind of want one of these super cheap and small, i almost did it for the XD but my holster would not retain it without the TLR2 :(

Yup, I've got an X400 that was mounted on the rifle, it's currently off the rifle and waiting for my Raven Concealment holster to come in so I can run it on my M&P. I thought it was pretty easy to get sighted in on the rifle, the Surefire has a decent adjustment system and I've never had an issue with it not holding zero and their customer service rocks.

You might check Gander Mountain, they may have a few down at the one in EP. Any reason you're looking at those? For the price they're charging for them you can get into a Springfield Armory, a Kimber or a Sig 1911 and get a better gun. Other than my 10/22, I have zero faith in Ruger and Bill Ruger (the owner) can blow a goat after what he did to gun owners in this country.

Sorry, Ruger is one of those four letter words for me ;)

Good luck with your search, let us know what you find. If you want to try out a Kimber or a Springfield let me and Martin know, Carl has a Sig 1911 that is also very nice.

I was looking for the ruger because they have gotten stellar reviews and can be had for 550. So far I have found one shop in town that can get me one for 650, which is still better than most sigs, kimbers and Springfields

But I should specify that I am not opposed to any 1911 as long as it has a beavertail grip safety.

This is an Izhevsk model built between 1943. It has a refurb stock on it, but the barrel has the East German 1 triangle marking on it, which makes it a little more unique. It's a forced match weapon, IE it was made to be numbers matching during it's armory refurb in the 60s, but the original barrel and stuff is all 40's.
I did a bit of reading up on what exactly I had purchased. [IMG]

Just about any of the new 1911's out there will have the beavertail. My advice is to skip the Ruger and get a better 1911. There are some decent deals on used ones out there, and you can find good deals on the Springers and Kimbers. The Sigs are new enough that I don't know about deals on them. Still, a flat trigger from the factory is a nice deal.

What's so bad about the ruger? I would be interested in Springfields or Sigs but the equivalent setup costs 150+ more than the ruger does in town.

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
I'm just not crazy about Ruger firearms, and they're very new in the 1911 game. Add to that my own personal bias against them as a company and I tend to look elsewhere.

That being said, those are my personal biases. I'm one voice and one opinion. They may well be a decent 1911, I just think you can do better for the money.

Are you wanting the 1911 just to own one/range toy or are you wanting it as more of a carry/self defense gun?
