    ooo00ooo new activity in here!

H23: nice looking guns. I have a Springfield M1a and I LOVE it. You got a great gun there. The SOCOM II is what made me decide on getting an M1A. Also the DPMS .308 looks great. I have been kicking around the idea of getting one of those. which model is it? it looks like the sportical but it has the wrong stock.

He just needs a good barrel shroud to assist on the reloads. Some subsonic ammo would take that thing down to a gentle clicking.

I did some work to the XDm tonight. I will post some pics up either later tonight or tomorrow depending on how tired I am.

Also anyone have any experience with the CY6 SLR15? http://www.slr15.com/ I have been looking around...

Wow, that was really stupid. Pointing gun at people (there was someone holding that camera, finger on the trigger after a few shots and waving it around...I'd punch her in the face for pulling some crap like that.

    ok picture time.

First up is a PRP Match Trigger kit for the XDm. Thsi kit replaces the safety lever, trigger safety (i didnt replace this I like the factory one), sear and trigger springs, and also installs an over travel stop.

Initial impression: excellent. The take up on the trigger is gone, as well as a large portion of the over travel. The springs drop the trigger pull down to about 3.5lbs. (just a guess, stated to be between 3-4 by manufacturer) the trigger is noticeably lighter than the stock one. All of the factory safeties remain in tact and funtional. I cannot wait to get to the range to shoot it.

The other goodies are: another 16rnd mag for the XDm and a M1907 sling for the M1A. Also not pictured is a new front sight post for the M1A, its still a NM sight (.062) but it is a taller post to help fix my zeroing issues.

The sling is going to take some getting used to. However once I get the hang of it, it should make an excellent shooting aid for standing, sitting or prone shots. Leather seems to be good, but the stitching on the keepers in junk and will need to be fixed.

Thats it for now, we will see what tomorrow brings.

Dave, where are you at in SLP?

And I'm guessing you didn't get that around here. How did you get that cleared for here in MN? I'd love a 10.5in barreled AR :yum:

    Doooo it.

I was looking at picking up a AR lower to build but now I'm thinking about doing a 10/22 instead. Soooooo much cheaper to shoot.

I'm actually in Roseville now (need to update the profile!).

I put it together while I was living in WI but I have since moved here and thus had my paperwork updated. There is a method of getting a SBR that doesn't require local LEO signoff, you basically have to create a trust and then the trust technically owns the weapon, not you as an individual. There are better explanations on various forums on the internet. If we ever have a shooting day again, this rifle will be there for all to play with if they wish.

Got out to the range today with the AR. for the first time out and shooting with the peep sights I was putting down pretty respectable groupings at 50 yrds.

When I got home I decided to mix it up alittle bit.

Since building my RRA gun will probably take more time than I thought, I picked up a classic 20" DPMS to play with for the time being. My first(complete) long gun.

Nice looking DPMS. Just ot of curiosity what made you go with the A1/A2 upper instead of an A3 or flattop?

The rock river lower will be built with with a shorter barrel flattop w/all the goodies when time and money permits. I wanted something different with this one and just kinda dig the traditional style of it.

What kind of 1911 are you getting?

I've got two Kimbers and they're great. I really want a Warrior for my next 1911.

I have only had one jam and that was when I was up at my property with a bunch of friends and we put about 400 rounds through it. So it was pretty dirty, otherwise I have not had a problem with it.

The P22 can be hit or miss, I've put a few thousand rounds through one and the only issue I had other than an occasional ammo related jam was that the front sight came off while I was shooting. My Kimber .22LR has some issues now and then, but most of them are ammo related. The other issue is mag related, and I'm working on sourcing some decent replacement mags as they're not rebuildable from what I can find.

Let me just say, while I can appreciate your choices, there are better weapons to be had out there...and you will never own a P90. At least not in this state.

Actually, you can get them at Bills, just not the full auto ones. They've got them in 5.56 (can't recall the model) and 5.7mm. I'm considering a 5.7mm upper for my Bushmaster, 50 round mags FTW.

And yes, there are much better choices to be had out there. Having fired the SOCOM, it's a fun pistol but for 2k I'd rather have a new Sig 226 Navy and a Noveske upper for my .450. It's too big to be much more than a home defense/safe queen of a pistol, and that's coming from someone who carries a full size 1911 every now and then.

Yes, those are called the PS90, but what fun is a 50 round mag full of 5.7 ammo that you have to fire one round at a time. Plus they have the long barrel to conform to ATF SBR rules. So they aren't going to be compact either. Now, that 5.7 upper for the AR-15, THAT is badass. Although, I'm kindof a purist and would rather have the 223 on an AR.
And agreed on the SIG 226, though I'll take mine in .40 rather than the Navy 9mm model.

I personally wouldnt mind having a Mk23. The only issue is that massive price tag. If you get the pistol and the LAM including tax you are well over $3k. Which one could by many fun toys for much less. however I still want one... If you buy one I want to shoot it!!!!

This is what I would have said, so I'll just quote it. :eek3:

Yeah the mark 23 is double the price of a tactical and all you really get is a longer barrel and a separate silent decocker.

They're plenty of fun, you don't have to reload every few seconds. Just ask anyone with a 10/22 and some extended mags ;) I know, they're not the exact same thing. I'm doing some checking though, from what I can tell MN may be an SBR legal state with the BATF tax stamp. Still waiting to find out for sure, but if it is then I know what my next gun purchase is going to be, a 10.5in upper would be really, really sweet.

As far as .223 on an AR, given the choice I think I'd rather have the 6.5 Grendel or 6.8SPC. One nice thing about the 5.7 upper though: you can get 50 rounds of 5.7mm for less than 20 rounds of .223 and for the majority of the shooting we do the 5.7 is going to do just fine, as I don't think we'll be engaging long range targets unless the SHTF, in which case I've got my .450 for anything inside 300 yards.
