nope, I wont buy a g35 cause the dash sucks, as do the cheap gauges...also wont buy a bmw because they refuse to change their ugly ass gauge set up....that bmw orange just kills me.....if I move on it will be an audi or porsche of some sort....that is the next step......the lgt is just boring to me, I used to kinda like them because I wanted to stay in the subaru family but it just seems so plain...
My next Porsche will be a Cayman S. Performance very close to the 911 and handles better. But I have a budget and have to watch the duckets. Keeps you in the boxer engine. Audi suxs. Even if they won Lemans this weekend. Again.
Do a 911 motor swap into the Cayman and you will have much of teh mega-funz0rs. The mystique of the ass-engined-Nazi-sled is compelling. For me it would be a hard choice between a 911 and Cayman. But, I (or my parents) can't afford either, so thankfully I'm not forced into making that decision. Volkswagen AG doesn't make anything worthwhile IMO. (Except for maybe the Lamborghinis....)
We need readymix in here so he can build a nice 5 X 5 matrix of months (weeks?) on one axis a car on the other.
lol, will you already went Audi and sold that pretty quickly. Maybe lotus? Those things fly with turbos
s4--i do like them, but maybe thats because the gauge set up is soooooo nice...hey wait....I LOVE MY EVO!!!!
Well I wish my parents bought me my evo, that would have been ****ing awesome, unfortunately I had to pay for it don't worry though, I will make plenty of money to buy a 2008 GT2 in the soon enough future, I just need to be patient
fixt. rs4 or r8 would be sweet. I'd be asking for a ride for sure. Dissuading you with the reliability arguement doesn't work in your case either since you seem to go through a few cars a year:laugh:
Yeah, if I didn't have a mortgage, property taxes, insurance on car/house/life, Wife's graduate school, and a fat cat that eats a lot, I could afford one. If I decided food wasn't important. Nice car, tho.
Argh...nevermind, I'll leave it alone Nice car, although I will say the G35 cluster, at least in my 2004, wasn't half bad. To each his own.
why, besides the road ahead of you it is the ONLY thing you stare at in a car....you look at that more than the fancy designed seats in some cars, or the carbon fiber dash pieces, or that big fugly shiftknob or those flashy pedals, or the lip for the bumper that everybody buys....IT IS THE ONLY thing you look at while driving.....Granted the evo gauges are nothing special but 100x better imo than the g35 or any bmw... I am obsessed with the interior of cars..it has to be clean and nice, and when you drive at night it has to feel right, Gauges are important I guess you could always put glowshift gauges into an m3:roll:
because looks matter little to me any more, its more about the feel of everything minus the look of everything. Sure some cars are pretty to look at and might have some cool guages for you to stare at while you should be watching the road anyway, but to each his own
Just to let you know the stock evo clutch is very weak and if it isnt replaced yet be prepared. my buddy just bought an evo with about 30xxx miles and already had to replace the clutch. Just a heads up, not trying to put a damper on things. CONGRATS on the buy!
sorry i keep missing you stoping down at the shop Will. hit me up before you stop by next time and i'll make sure to be around.
Evo? Is the Evo that much beter on the asphault then a Sti? I have an 07 wrx and am serioulsy wanting to buy a 2008 Sti ( Hatch) or Evo?
to answer a few q's... it has an aftermarket brand new heavy duty clutch and flywheel from ACT I had an 06 STI with BC racing coilovers and my evo feels 100x tighter and more responsive on stock springs/struts and as far as it goes with the looks of the gauges and car....JOSH.....i see your point about pretty things to stare at...but...thats why this car kicks my sti's ass because it does feel better and tighter to drive, plus its just as pretty as teh sti to look at once again its all in personal opinion ohh and justin i got an oem downpipe and o2 housing sitting in my garage....grimmspeed should make some parts??????
not to mention the evo is sittin on falken azenis tires....those arent good for handling or anything! what tires did you have on your sti?
thats very possible.....I can't remember which tires on the sti, you will have to ask evan very impressed though with no jack ass coments...(puts on flame suit for inviting war)
i drove a evo today and a newer mr awhile back and all i have to say is to each there own. i don't like them one bit. respect them but the shifter seems too forward, steering seems funny to me and a different feel all together. as long as you like it sweet. good luck with it and have fun.
there is no sense really in starting a thread about this car it will be sold and gone before summer is over
i'm approaching 60k and will be doing a clutch within the next 10k miles and I, uh, give the clutch a substantial workout (if you catch my drift)
^ Thats been one of the biggest complaints about the Evo, being the weak clutch. I would expect a car guy to know what tires he had on his last car that's been gone for what, a month or two? I can name every set of tires I've bought, but I am a geek like that.
Not knowing what tires you had means: A. You didn't have the car long enough to go through a set... and/or B. $700 is pocket change. doesn't mean you're a nerd, lol
Someone I know bought a brand new 2007 WRX and went through a clutch in the first 4,000 miles. This wasn't his first stick shift either.
yeah, I would say this person has no idea how to drive a stick, or possibly the car was flawed or something...but the odds of that are slim to none.
 Sounds like a defect somewhere, mistakes do happen.. >< Then again they coulda just been a terrible driver...
I have heard of a clutch going out like that, but the person was normally trying to burn rubber with AWD .
im sure it was covered by warranty at 4,000 miles so who cares. any number of factors could have caused clutch failure most likely defective
I already did, but they got modded long ago:hsugh: Back on topic though. The whole problem with coilovers is that they can be setup completely wrong and make the car handle worse than stock. So it's not entirely fair to claim superior handling for the evo, because if you don't remember what kind of tires you were on, chances are likely you probably didn't have your coilovers anywhere near dialed in anyway. However, the evo is supposed to be better prepped for tarmac from the factory and have all around "zippier" turn in.
 poor subynate it just means he beat the crap out of it for the first 4k as stated above... he beat the crap out of it. he's calmed down down and kept the ****ty attempts to NON DRY pavement and not so many launches. They charged him $1400 to do it. i met him a week after he brought it there or i would've done it for him.
