So I'm walking up to my car this morning and instantly notice something is wrong with the trim piece under the driver side door (right in the middle). I kneel down and discover a crack about 4 inches across. Anger quickly turns to confusion as I inspect the door and find no other damage. I've only had the car back from Morrie's since Monday and they had washed the car and I'm sure either they or I would have notice this on Monday. I am sure I did not drive over anything in the last few days that would have hit the bottom of the car (as everything is pretty much melted on the streets in Mpls). So here's the question, what the hell did this to my car? Your thoughts...
I'm gonna guess something (ice clod, road debris, etc) hit it on one of our recent really cold days and cracked it. You just didn't see it until now because the car was dirty, you were intently thinking of something or talking on the phone when approaching the car, or were distracted in some other way and not focused on checking out the rockers every chance you had.
Plausible. Don't think so, the car was sparkling clean when I picked it up on Monday night and pretty much stayed that way until Thursday/Friday when it started to warm up. Just can't believe I would have missed this. New car syndrome you know, I look it over every time I walk up to it. No ice buildup since I got it back on Monday. Interesting. Hadn't thought of this but I suppose it would be possible with the tempature changes we've had the last few days.
Came off the trailer and bottom out before vehicle purchase!!! Look underneath and see how it was cracked. Was it being pushed up? Where was the impact? Looks like ice chunk hit it or did it run on something else?
