I was inspecting my engine bay during my last oil change just to see if anything stood out. Sure enough, I noticed what I think may be a slight oil leak. However I'm not sure what the part is or if its even a leak. I haven't been having any issues and the car has been running fine. I would just like to fix this potential issue. Car: 2006 Saabaru 9-2x 2.5i (it is exactly the same as a 2006 Subaru 2.5i Impreza; naturally aspirated) Miles: just over 125k Mods: None pertinent to this situation. Previous owner replaced head gasket, had the heads rebuilt, etc at about 105k I took the picture of the part from where this green arrow is pointing...basically looking at the top part of the back side of the engine: In this picture, the green arrow is pointing to where I think the leak is coming from. I did try to clean up some of the oil residue. What part/parts are these? I checked the 05 service manual (not sure how much different the 05 is from the 06) and couldn't find the part. Thanks in advance!
Hard to tell for sure looks like it's leaking from a sensor. Probably an ORB type fitting could just need clean/ replaced.
I'll name that part 'Joey' , Now the leak is just a leak, no need to name that, But if you did, maybe 'dino'?
Interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks for the very helpful info. I'll stop in sometime next week and grab one.
Ya they are super common for leaks, be careful when tightening it, cause if you tighten them to much you can crack the cylinder head.
Yea, I saw that happen to someone on a how-to thread...looks like an issue that I wouldn't want to deal with fixing lol. Looks like the torque spec is 18 ft-lbs, but my torque wrench only goes down to 20 ft-lbs. I'm assuming those 2 ft-lbs aren't going to make a huge difference, but perhaps I'll hand-tighten just to be safe.
Ya i used to use a torque wrench, but cracked a head before it was at the right torque. So now i put a little thread sealer on the threads and hand tighten
I cracked a head using. Torque wrench set to 12.5ft/lbs. They pipe threads so i always just hand tighten
