basically it screams constantly, slightly more when engine is cold, but still obnoxious because you can hear it from the driver seat at stop lights etc. and out side of the car as well.

cell vid, should be able to hear the noise, what i am wondering is what is the name for that pulley? or would this be the ac compressor? does one fail more frequently?

That is your AC Tensioner Pulley. We have those in stock. Just becareful when taking it apart that you dont snap the pulley holder arm.

Yes, the A/C idler pulley is what it sounds like. Not sure if you've done your timing belt and all those pulleys, but it could be one of those pulleys/bearings behind the timing belt cover. The A/C idler pulley is made of cheesy plastic and can easily break, it doesn't use ball bearings... just a solid bearing.

Untighten the pulley nut first, then back off the adjuster a lot, then you can see how much wobble/play it has. There is normally a small amount of play even when the pulley nut is tightened. You can try running the engine without the pulley (for a short amount of time) and see if the noise goes away. Napa carries that pulley, but it is crap compared to a OEM replacement. Also, check to see if the pulley is rubbing against the timing belt cover.

What Bielke said talldan! My pulley went out this spring. It's the bearings sounding like hell. Cheap fix after a quick stop at Tonka parts.;)

On a completely unrelated note, I think you win the prize for lowest mods per mile ratio.

On the flipside, I think I was at 20 mods/14 miles in my first week of ownership lol

I name it Christine. Old girl friend's name and she was a screamer too. Little too clingy was the problem though.

problem fixed, didnt buy a subaru part because they only sell American cars here. also did the belts cause they were not ideal looking

i haven't seen Carl with A/c in that car for evar.

timing belt is done. and mods are not done.

tomorrow i try to find someone who; knows what tape weights are, knows what to do with a 45 series side wall and will not charge me 100 dollars to swap one tire from one wheel to another.

Check out Tires4Less in Fridley(Hwy65 north from 694 and a block west on the left side of Osborne Rd). They're my tire sponsor and do all of my tire work...and all that i run are 45's, so they can handle it. Pretty sure that they use tape weights too. Tell them that I sent ya and take cash with.;)

Should be waaaay under $100. lol

I would recommend these guys to anybody, they are the only people that I use now. All the people are pretty cool along with the owner.
