hi yall well i got an 06 tranny in my 02 but the darn thing wont shift into gear. not sure what's wrong any suggestions?
You're going to need to be a lot more specific than that if you're looking for answers. What model Subaru do you have and what model Subaru did the transmission come out of? When you're saying it's not shifting into gear what is it doing?
06 tranny is incompatible with on 02 clutch.... push/pull difference.... are you running an 06' style clutch?:eek4:
i do have the 06 style clutch in. not sure what you mean by making sure the linkage isnt bound up? and the car starts up fine but wont go in gear. if car is off, i can shift in gear but it is really notchy.
See Post #2. If you're running an 06 trans in an 02, you're about to have a lot more issues than just not being able to shift. The final drive on an 02 is different than an 06 (3.9 vs. 3.7) which is going to cause some serious issues with your center diff. As Putz already stated, the clutches are different as well. Is this a 6MT or a 5MT that you put in? Did you do any research on this before you put it in?
I think the peddle box is different too.... I think you may need to fab somthing for the 06 cluch stomper if I remember right... correct me please/
Until the OP can put together a complete, well formed post containing the information about his car, the vehicle that the donor transmission came out of and any other pertinent piece of information then he's not going to get any help on this at all. We've got better things to do than play guessing games all day about what might or might not be wrong with the car. For all we know he's got an 02 Dodge Ram 3500 and he installed the transmission from a 2006 Ferrari F430 Scuderia and he's having shifting issues.
He's getting a chance, but he's going to have to give us the information that we need to actually help him out. Coming in here and giving us no information at all and then wanting answers doesn't do anyone any good.
ok sry yall i keep on assuming u know what i got but yeah you dont. well i got a 06 wrx 5speed tranny into my 02 wrx. did change the rear diff as well to match the 06 wrx tranny.
Ok, that's getting better. The clutch between an 02 and an 06 is going to be a different style clutch. With you running the 06 clutch you may not be engaging or disengaging the clutch and it won't let the car go into gear while it's running.
I think the peddle box is different too.... I think you may need to fab somthing for the 06 cluch stomper if I remember right... correct me please/ anyone know about this. what would i need to fab?
well is there somewhere i can find a "how to" cause ive looked long and hard. im finally raising my hand and asking:emo:
best bet is to search nasioc, and find some one crazy enough to swap an 06-07 drive train into an 02-05 wrx.... kinda a weird swap if you ask me, easier to stick with a dirrect swap tranny... but your best bet is to try different search terms untill you find what you are looking for.
most help I found on nasioc... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1798319&highlight=06+wrx+transmission+swap
please don't feed the fire with plastic materials, they smell bad!!!!! Burns the brain cells! this is what needs to be done to work. I'll go over the process. '06 tranny with matching rear diff '06 WRX FW and clutch '06 clutch fork and throwout bearing '06 WRX slave cylinder male front axles if you don't have them Don't matter the pedal box. It's job is to push fluid. Make sure you get the FULL pedal stroke. Bleed the clutch line when you swap slave cylinders, Bleed it correctly. It shouldn't take MORE than 5 times to bleed it. I don't want to have to take off your tranny again to redo the work... because that's what I had to do this last weekend at Brainerd.
thanks for the help. ill probably take it out again a look at my work to see if anythings out of place. this is gonna be my third time. 1st time the clutch pedal wasnt getting hard even though i bleed the hell out of it. Now it wont shift into gear and now the pedal is hard.
