i bought a used transmission it was working properly where the gears shift in good not hooking to the engine but when i had it bolt on to the engine it wont go in any gears at all. do anybody might know whats wrong or have a simular problem please help!! Car: Subaru Impreza 2.5rs 2000
Oh my goodness... another tranny issue. It won't go into any gear while the car is ON??? Or it won't go into any gear while the car is OFF???
the only thing i can think maybe the input shaft not align and putting load on the input shaft. to no be able to shift in gears.
If the clutch is working (feels normal) while it is attached to the motor, I would say you have a bent input shaft. The input shaft can get bent if it is not aligned correctly when bolting it to a motor. Sometimes people use the bolts to pull the motor and tranny together because they can't get it aligned properly while under the car. If aligned correctly, the tranny will just slide into the motor with little effort. ~Dan
gonna have to look over the shift linkage again... if that is good. gotta take off the tranny again to inspect the clutch stuff. It should at least shift into gear fine with the engine off. a little bit of slack in the driveline makes it possible; you can see the driveshaft turn a little when you shift into different gears. Did you also change out the shifter? Short throw shifters can also affect this because the linkage is bolted HIGHER, and the shifter arm where the boot goes over can come in contact with the chassis or the metal plate that holds that rubber boot on the bottom of the shifter. Re-check your work.
lol when i put the two sensor on the transmission i sort of put them in the wrong place so yeah lol...........cause my old one was taken a part from some transmission shop and they gave it back to me in pieces and the new one i have to guess and check lol......
