    Hello,

WE are in need of a short block replacement for a 2000 Impreza RS 2.5L
Bought it on Saturday and it died (clank-clack) on Monday
Had it towed to WB Subaru, they say it's a rod bearing or main bearing, we need a new engine. $5,000+ for them to fix . . . Looking for a good affordable shop to do the work on East side of Saint Paul.
    Any recommendations ?

    Thanks,
    Mike

No, just a little clicking, thought it was just a little valve noise . . guess not.

We have a '95 Impreza 2 dr. coup that make plenty of clickity noise but it keeps running . . .

no, RS Motors is a shop in Burnsville that would be a good place to take your car to.

Mike Wray (legacypgt is his sn on here) would be another good person but he is on the opposite side of the city

You won't be able to see it until you've got 25 posts, but you can PM Colin. He's got everything you'd need for a WRX motor swap for 1500. Might as well have some fun, right?

    Moving on, maybe

We are getting a quote to have the engine rebuilt. Thanks for all the suggestions and offers. Unfortunately I do not have the time to do the work, and being an old dog learning new tricks (working on a subaru) . . . the last car I did a lot of wrenching on was a 1966 Ols Cutlast F85, gold with a black vinyl roof, 330 CI V8 . . . At this point it's not the most productive use of my time, and my son is not ready to take on a project this size. And a warranty for the engine, is almost a requirement. I do not want to go through the hassle, time and expense and end up where we are today again.

I did check the thread posts by the young man that sold us the car and I posted a statement there, what can you say other that "stuff happens".

    Thanks again,
