Need some help with some bootie

Ok so I really want to install a leather shift boot on to my brighton. The issue is that since the car is a 96 it doesn't have the mounts to put leather boot in. Does any one here have any knowledge with this DIY mod? Could i just replace the trim around the boot with a 97+ trim? I cant really seem to find any good write ups for this so any advice would be great.



Also I do need an elephant skin boot, and also I still need a leather boot.
