PE is a four year qualification process after becoming an EIT, but an engineer must be qualified, academically or by experience, to be a normal engineer it doesn't matter though, justin seems to like it and it's his shop and his call - regardless of any ethical issues due to perception anywho now that i see it i really like it. it has a whole "i make [the engineering part] your car fast [the speed] enough to be dangerous[the grimm]" thing going for it
+1 Seriously though. having an acronym name which is so hard to pronouce that it forms tons of odd sayings is great. look at Ray's screen name for example. GSSHPPfySRA or GrimmBot FTW!
If this is about the sort of thing like answering the phones "grimmspeed" that is annoying and you want to answer it "grimmspeed....insert word...." then figure out what sounds good rolling off the tongue. I really like the idea of Grimmspeed motorsports in that case. Its not like Perrin answers the phone "Perrin." They have probably added a motorsports or powersports, etc. to the end. Grimmspeed Garage doesnt communicate proffesionalism. Period. It sticks with its roots because you started doing profesional work in a informal setting. You now have customers who dont know you on a first person base, and they want to THINK their parts are going to a big, expensive, fancy shop with 50 guys in jumpsuits standing around big shiney machines. You can communicate a lot by coining a phrase to answer the phone to, or to put on merchandise/packaging/etc. Grimmspeed "proven performance" (alliteration is always good) is more of a slogan in itself, is descriptive, and communicates your proffesionalism. "Grimmspeed motorsports, Proven performance for every day use"
Hm... If you were to answer the phone, which would sound better? "Hello, Grimmspeed Performance" "Hello, Grimmspeed Engineering" "Hello, Grimmspeed Motorsports" "Hello, Grimmspeed Garage"
grimmspeed customs lol.. kinda like west coast customs.... or umm i cant believe its grimmspeed  lol thats just a joke. but actually do a poll.. i like motor sport and garage..
Grimmspeed automotive products, or G.A.P or grimmspeed automotive yielding, or G.A.Y but for rizzle im all about the GSG idea too
I think it would be cool to find another word that starts with 'S'...so the acronym could be GSS. (pronounced j1zz.) Grimmspeed Sports?
Go with Motorworks if you wanna do that... Believe me from VW/Audi Experience you will have the mindless german kids scraping at your door for VW parts and questions... E.G. Tarass
lol ok. well it looks like most people are now agreeing on the original one i put up in the first post
Grimmspeed Motorsports is the most descriptive of what you guys do, and is also the smoothest to speak. You can always call a marketing company and pay them $100 to brainstorm some solutions for you.
The acronym for that would be GSM, which I would pronounce J1zzem.... The marketing company wouldn't let you know things like that.
Tell them they can 'learn' all about your products at your FAQ website www.grimmspeeduniversity.com (or GS-U). "I learned how to go fast at GSU!"
I agree with nathan on this still. I have been amazed at how flat out poor some marketing firms do at popping out things in this line but I would certainly do this for some professional creativity. Id pick Joel's brain with whatever you come up with too. My opinion is to keep it simple, GRIMSPEED. your product, services I think will show what you do. Your logo will draw their eye to who you are. especialy with todays websites and all, id guess I could find you by typing in grimspeed for your website. if i saw grimspeed motorsports I might start doing searches for you and get lost into another site. You can branch out into other addon names but I dont think any really define you. Garage sounds like you think is too small, motorsports seems people think is too big. Your logo and branding seems choice with GRIMSPEED, the rest I think is adding confusion. It did for when I heard the addition. Whatever you do I am sure will be right for you and all of us will like it I am sure.
the whole keep it short idea sounds good, but if u want to add something make it catchy so when you answer the phone people dont get bored while you say the name...i hafta see this shop sometime
