i am putting my new konis in soon after the donor housings are back from powder coating. i will be putting them in and then going to jeff to tweak the alignment. couple questions how much of a difference will my winter setup to summer setup make. both arw 225 45 17 tires so should i wait until im putting summers on to do my swap and alignment? also do i need to replace my eccentric bolts? are eccentric and camber bolt different at all? running rce blacks on sti kyb struts currently will be running rce blacks on koni yellows 04 wrx
The tire size and type won't affect your alignment. Depending on how aggressive your summer setup is, you may want a different alignment for winter. With the stock top hats, bolts, etc, you won't be able to achieve any super aggressive alignment, so you should be fine with 1 alignment year round. Since you're just changing the struts with another stock-style replacement strut, your achievable camber specs should stay the same. Since you will have everything taken apart and remounted, I still recommend getting a new alignment. "Eccentric" bolts can mean different things, but if you're referring to the stock "camber" bolt in the upper slot on the front strut mount...you don't need to replace those unless they are completely rusted out or something. Jeff is an expert, so you may want to ask him for advice as well.
+1 You can buy a paint marker and mark the NUT (makecsure its the nut side) at 90° clocked angles and use that as a reference for alignment when swapping in other struts. Not perfect, but will get you to Jeff or other shop on a pretty close to what you had alignment. REQUIRES a torque wrench, and requires you but the bolt back in the same way it came out.
Durn it, fail. I always say that ome backwards, it's like my curse. Yes, you are correct Shane. Thanks!!
