man as if posting normally doesnt do it.. now you post while drunk..... ha ha ha ha.. thats dangerous..
and Ray doesnt wear panties.... . . . . . . .. . he prefers leather stringy ones... panties are USUALLY lace kind
badbenny....+1 point for you taking this off topic. its my thread so i can bring it where ever i want since i'm the OP
whine about original rules ACTUALLY BEING enforced finally...you know the usual pettiness and immaturity... yada yada yada... now back on topic you sissies!! continue whining
hmm..not sure what the topic is right now. how about the topic is whatever it is for whatever time of night it is ya ya. we arent nasioc. like said before by piddster..we need to APPEAL to the target market which si 18-25 year olds...not 5 year olds, and not 50 year olds. let us swear occasionaly like "god this F'n bolt pissed me off" and not have to worry about it. this ISN'T a family place so i dont get why we are forcing it to be. i do completely agree that personal attacks need to be deal with but all the other stuff is WAY over board guys. I'm ALL about being a HUGE supporter hearl, but i think MOST of us are adults that can handle our own stuff and dont need to get POINTS.
before this post was edited it is the only one that confused me about the swearing and the swear filter. some words were allowed and some wrern't. All or none in my opinion
hence why i posted my post that included a bunch of "adult" words in it...to clarify what words were acceptable and what werent. well i got warned.
I also agree. I come on this forum to help out where I can, lend a hand with builds etc. I really don't feel like posting if the FCC is going to be breathing down my back every 2 seconds about a few swear words or whatever in my posts. I mean come on, car guys talk a bit dirty. I'm willing to help pretty much anyone on MNsubaru with what I can. If I'm wrenching on a car, and my hand slips and I cut myself I'm going to say "****, I ****ing cut my ****ing hand god damn piece of **** cock ****". I'm not gonna come on here and say "hey *insertnamehere* you are useless, please stop posting" I agree that is wrong. Anyways, if this forum is going to turn into a hello kitty island adventure with pink fluffy animals fake smiling faces, I'll just stop posting. You are telling people to act something that they are not. That is wrong. It's a car club not a chess club.
actually they are just asking people to use some courtesy and maturity online... if we find it too hard to NOT swear then maybe we need to look at how we structure or speak english.... ha ha would you kiss you mother with that mouth!?!? ok ok I dont want to know
Exactly, I have trouble not swearing too but when your typing instead of talking it is a bit easier. It is a courtesy to people that view this site at work or might be offended by something. The problem is MNSubaru has a very diverse base. That is why the mods are of a diverse base now also. We have talked about this stuff a lot and tried to take everyone into consideration. I am not sure why everyone is in such a huff about it. The rules did not change.... they were written to be more precise to try and eliminate any argument about what they might mean. Yes infractions were added, yes we will end up handing some out, but I have seen very few things before this point in time that needed them. Some of the warning I handed out already probably would never get points (some for sure would if we were giving points now). The warnings were given out just so people know where to post things or how. We are not going to give out infractions for mistakes... well unless someone made a "mistake" and posted porn or something. It is only in an attempt to try and make the forums easier to read and keep them safe for everyone. Matt
We do want this site to be work and family friendly. The swear filter has been in place for a very long time, and the rule about not typing around the swear filter isn't a new rule either. This isn't a business, we're not trying to target only one certain group of people. This is a club that we want to be open to a very large audience. The rules are meant to be precise, and the infractions are meant to make their enforcement consistent. This isn't some kind of crackdown, this is just defining the rules are and how they're going to be enforced.
I dont see what the big deal is. Nothing is any different than it was before. There isn't some big crackdown impending, its jsut hte best way to make sure the rules apply fairly to everyone. Its not like its event that bad, I mean if you read it we didnt exactly make it so that your average poster would ever get anywhere close to being banned. I really don't expect to see much at all change around here because of this. its simply not a big deal. think of the swear filter like south park... its still funny and they bleep everything. mother****. That wasnt hard to figure out, but wasn't dodging the swear filter either. the point still gets across. I think that people's assumption that some sort of crackdown or major change is misinformed. The reasons are just that as more people join the forum and it gets larger its nice to have a car based discussion forum that people can enjoy. I don't get it, all of you are members of tehw00t.com which is essentially a forum that was started after jason had this same argument against the same rules a little more than a year ago. What's so hard about doing your thing there? Its pretty much a forum dedicated to doing whatever you want in a community environment. This is a forum dedicated to subarus.
I know, (i'm scared to say it now) but the "B" word I said, (jesus that sounds like I'm in 5th grade) wasn't edited out. I came back later that day, and it was edited out. No one did answer my question. Mods?? If the swear filter is in place, then there shouldn't be any reason we can't swear with it edited out?
We are still adding words to the filters to **** out the swearing. You could swear and the filters will edit it out, but just do not go around it...like some members...If any of the mods catch it and it is obvious they went around the filter purposely. They will get warned and maybe given a point... The mods are also being moderated as well, no one is off the hook...
Ray, is my "Name" comment towards you gonna earn me a point?hehe < < I haven't been warned about anything yet, so I don't really see the difference. I guess only time will tell if this point system is a real + or -. I think the mods. have good intentions here and we should support it. If things get real out of hand in the next few months, then maybe everyone could sit down and try to figure out a different/better system. +1 for the mods trying to do the right thing IMO.
meh, i think these rules no matter how small, will make less people join/stay, but whatever, i guess i better watch my mouth.
IMO- it is the quality of the Club that makes me want to join, not the quantity. if everyone is jumping off the bridge doesn't mean I'm going to as well...I may just look for a better landing area before I do...lol (maybe a bad example)...hehe
I have a feeling i have something to do with the rules needing to become enforced and official... and with that i would like to bring up the idea of possibly having a subaru vs. the world forum or something along those lines that it would be safe for us to sling dirt at each other, etc. and only have if veiwable if you are a member so random people who stumble upon us don't see it. btw, i have no objection to the rules, at least you give us 15 points to work with
^yea, but Zap 1 wrong post is 15 pts. already for u? :lollollollol: jk...I'm sure the other mods will see your suggestion as well, I wonder how difficult it would be to block guest from seeing the thread u proposed?
many other forums have areas specifically for that stuff... kinda like a members 18+ mens club thing.... I dont know... I dont think a slinging match section is a bad idea... maybe an area for un-censored talk / chat.... thaat way people can choose NOT to go there.... and it could give a warning first... I dont know.. not a fan of it but hey... if it stops whining.. he he
Not a bad idea, I know some people have bad days and really need to vent... a section for that would be fine by me. As for the swearing thing, as long as I can let a few swears slip by and not get yelled at its ok by me. I'm not gonna try to purposely work around the filters, I just thought we were going to get in trouble for swearing even if it got filtered.
Nobody is going to get in trouble for swearing, thats what the filter is for. It is when people dodge the filter so the filter doesn't pick it up, thats what needs to be stopped. As for a 18+ section, pretty much everyone on the site is over 18, so that really wouldn't work. Besides, this is just one site on the internext, there are millions of other sites out there if you need to vent/look at porn/talk like you are in a porno/whatever. I really don't think this site needs another off topic that you can say anything in. Russ
Couldn't agree more. I've seen more censorship and thread locking in the past two weeks then I did in the past 6 months. Why? What's the benefit? To me a local board like this should be providing exactly what a large national board cannot: A place where people can be themselves and not have to worry about the politics of a big board. You take that away and really what's this board provide that isn't already out there?
again did you add up what you'd actually have to do to get banned? You'd have to be a habitual line crosser, which this site has had before. A warning for accidentally posting in the wrong area is not a big deal. There have been more posts moderate int eh last few days because some people decided to test the new system. I have no idea what they thought needed thesting, but they did it anyways. Probably to see if we'd actually do anything I don't see what's worth worrying about really. I'm as much at risk with the way I post as anyone and I'm a moderator.
um... even if they dont crack down... what does it offer that isnt already out here.. its the WWW for goodness sake... I say if people are gonna get pissy about it then leave and go to nasioc or wherever you want if all that gets you excited about htis is being able to swear etc... like you said there are millions of sites out there that you can do whatever you want NOW!!! personally iam on this site 99% of the time out of the 6 or 7 other forums... why cause the atmosphere is way better, less crap is started, virtually no harrassment or abuse of other members, there is a fairly high level of maturity (98%) of the time... and its a local club... Why people feel the need to vent about crap in their lives online is beyond me anywyas... yo uhave a bad day, go to the restroom look in the mirror and scream it out or something... this aint a therapist forum...
Yep, I got tired of unwritten code of conduct in the offtopic section. And I am actually glad to see some sort of rule structure now. Even though the points system smacks of Kindergarten. I made the rules on t3hw00t very simple and easy to understand...and very straight forward. Though there aren't many rules there, I made sure there was very little grey area, and I think the rules that I made defined the attitude of the site. Sure, everyone is allowed to say whatever they want, but the rules sort of shaped it into a more fun environment for everyone by keeping the hatred off there. We like to be a no drama environment. You are all welcome to whore the hell out of t3hw00t.com, for all your OffTopic needs. And while I hate the points system, I like the fact that you FINALLY have some rules written down where we can read them.
i don't think a 18+ section is needed nor would be ir good, if anyone is looking for boobies they can find them easily enough and if they can't they don't deserve to be able to look at them. just something were we can flame noobs and not get banned.
