Installed Hawk HPS pads last night in the front and after driving from Eagan to Burnsville on the freeway I smelt "burning" brake pads. My front left brake assembly was radiating massive heat and was way hotter then the passenger side. Here I thought I couldn't **** up a simple brake job. Any ideas why I'm having so much friction on just one side?

I didn't.. Didn't think it was necessary for a pad swap. Car is a 2010 WRX, OEM rotors/calipers.

I agree. Pull and grease the slide pins. Also check your calipers for a ripped boot. It may be seized.

Will do. Seals looked good. Think I can use the grease supplied with the pads for slide pins or do I need to consider something else?

I've used this very same stuff, it's great for slider pin lube as well as for drum brakes (for those of you who remember those things) ;)

I removed the caliper and inspected the pads. It was evident The outer pad was rubbing on the lower half. I removed the bottom slide pin, cleaned and greased it. Drove the o' Reilly's and back and shot the temp of the passenger side rotor compared to driver side and they were about the same. Hopefully that was the issue. The guys at o'reillys thought it make be a sticker caliper as well. Guess time will tell.

All is well in Brakeville, just a sticky slide pin.
