*Note: this post turned into a bit of a rant so just scroll down if you're looking for photos* Not sure how many of you saw my WRX when I bought it from Alabama ten years ago but it looked a lot different than it does now and honestly a lot different than how I wanted it to. Wingless OEM trunk, no fogs or covers, peeling clearcoat, and some very out of place 20" chrome wheels (maybe it was cool in the dirty south back then). Over the years I've changed a LOT of it, sometimes only to change it again, but the one thing that remained was the (partial) body kit. It came with C-West replica side skirts and rear lip but no front lip so I added a Greddy one that seemed to match, followed by two more to replace broken ones. Anyway, point is I never really cared for the kit but left it because I knew it'd be a lot of work to change it. Finally this spring I decided to go ahead with it and replaced all that with a Version 1 STI front lip, OEM rocker moldings with aero guards and strakes, and '04-05 style rear bumper spats and diffuser. While I was at it I upgraded my mud guards and added a Kakumei carbon rear window spoiler, just because I'd been planning to for a while. So now I finally have it more or less looking how I want it to, although I'm sure at some point there will be something else I want to do. As of right now, the only thing I'm still not done with is the STI rear wheel arch moldings because I'm waiting for new ones to be shipped. Couldn't reuse the old ones because they were trimmed to fit the side skirts, but I may still have a use for them (we'll find out once the new ones arrive so I'll update then). If you're still reading now then I applaud your patience, and please enjoy the photos to follow. For some context, since I told this whole dumb story I thought I'd post photos that show kind of a timeline of the different looks she's sported...
This is the earliest photo I have, only thing I'd done at this point were clear sidemarkers and fog covers.
Those chrome 20's... The lip isn't totally speaking to me, but I'm loving those side skirts and rear spats. That car is still frickin sexy. Nice work.
Thanks, and I was actually looking at a Prodrive lip but felt like it was a little too subtle. For me the V1 is a nice middle ground, not as aggressive as the GReddy but still drops the front enough to be noticeable and match the height of the aero guards. My only complaint is that the front looks kind of smooth and plain now so I'm thinking maybe some ducts in the fog openings instead of blank covers would help offset that? Those RPG carbon ones look nice but man are they spendy, plus I don't even know if they'd fit with the FMIC piping.
Maybe fab up an aluminum Front splitter that is color matched or black to go underneath it? like so? https://www.enjukuracing.com/produc...lAtOtdrGF4EzIWrAjYA-3j5CiExVhItwaAtZwEALw_wcB
I like the look but man, that thing would get destroyed. Already scraped the V1 lip within the first hour of driving with it on.
Haha, yeah I can see that. And I've noticed in photos it doesn't quite look as good as in person. Maybe if I could get a fancy new phone and figure out how to do these 3D photos the kids are posting on their Facebook vape groups...
Yeah you're right, I'll just have to wait until the LaX cruise unless I make it to a mini meet before then. I do want to hit the Coon Rapids Saturday cruise at some point, good friend if mine lives really close to there.
