Found some great wheels (97 Legacy GT 18 spoke) that have some curb rash on three of them. Is it possible to weld more material to them, then dremel it off to repair? Or are there better ways to repair curb rash before painting? Regarding painting, I was thinking of powder coating but thought it may be more cumbersome to repair any nicks or scratches than just painting and clear coating. Any thoughts?

That is how a wheel repair place does it. Weld in some new material and machine it smooth.

If you are looking to repair them and get the powder coated you can use a products called metal 2 metal body filler. It is a body filler that has aluminum in it so you can powder coat it. My dad runs a powder coating shop so if you have anymore questions let me know.

Thanks for the input! I am going to weld in some aluminium and then sand blast with walnut shells, followed up with some self etching primer then numerous coats of spray paint concluding with numerous coats of clear coat. I'll see you at lake calhoun later this summer to show it off.
