    Hey Everyone!

Just brought home my first WRX and I'm in love! Picked up a red 2015 Premium cvt from Walser last night. Hope to meet everyone soon and I'll try to post pics later. I'm in the Lakeville / Apple Valley area.

Welcome! That's a great color. You'll have to post about how you like the CVT, I'm curious about it's use in a WRX :)

Welcome! I'm also curious about the CVT, although there was a 0% chance of me getting one. I just bought a white 2015 Premium (and I work in Lakeville) :)

Yeah it was a tough decision. I usually go with manual but decided to give the cvt a shot. Lots of haters out there but so far it has not disappointed. Since I don't plan on professionally racing, I figured the time differences between manual and cvt were not enough to get me worked up. Plus, the wife sometimes drives it...so there is that. I do plan on doing some mods, still figuring that out.

There are times when I'm stuck in traffic that I wish I had the '15 with a CVT... Don't let anyone give you a hard time about your car. I hear it's great! Congrats on your new rex!

I have read more praise than negatives of the CVT in the WRX in all of the reviews I have read on the car. Really surprised me.

Yeah - I did quite a bit of research before pulling the trigger. I get wanting a standard in a sports car like the WRX, most of the people that are complaining probably can't drive a stick as well as they think when it comes to launching and correct shifting. In all honesty the CVT shifts fast and the response at a roll is great. I haven't toyed with S# that much, but it's a beast.

    Congrats! I like the color.
Hopefully Cobb or someone will be able to flash the TCU so the CVT doesn't simulate 8 gears. It would be awesome to just hold the engine at peak torque for max acceleration like a snowmobile.
I bet there is a reason subaru didn't allow this (like overheating the CVT or causing tons of wear on the chains because its is constantly trying to change ratio under heavy load) but it would still be cool to try.
The Nissan Rogue and Versa I have had as rentals both just pegged rpm at peak torque without shifting and it made it pretty fun to drive.

I've been reading up on some tuning with the CVT. There are some places getting good results. I'm thinking about calling the guys in Burnsville. It would be pretty sweet to get her up to 300 horses and well tuned. Still looking into it.

Congrats and the new model wears red the best in my opinion. When I was working the rally this last August I had a long conversation with David Higgins about the new WRX and he personally has a 2015 CVT for his DD back in Wales. He was given a choice and he went with CVT, he loves that transmission and highly recommended it to me but I had already dove headfirst into a Launch Edition STI. Welcome!

Thanks! That's interesting about Higgins. I've been trying to dig around and find more info on this transmission and what would be possible from a tuning standpoint. Red was not my first choice but it looks so much better in person.

My .02 is leave well enough alone. You already said you got it to be your daily driver, you don't plan on tracking in it or competing in it. These cars from the dealership are by no means slow, they are fast enough from the lot to get you in heaps of trouble. I Cobb tune mine only to get rid of notorious OEM tune lean spots. Everyone else on here will disagree but my advice for now is get snow tires and enjoy, you just bought a car that has been held very high by the analysts and reviewers for it's out of the box performance, just enjoy it.

    Don't listen to him ^ :p
You NEED to put the new PTE6870 on there and crank it up or else the boogie man will get you in the night.

I was thinking more along the lines of some small tweaks. No upgraded turbos, haha. It is a daily driver but part of the fun is in the mods. Anyway, you're right about it being fun to drive as is. I'm just a sucker for wanting more. It would be nice to maybe get stage one. For now I need winter tires and some other small things like remote start...

I'm really itching to upgrade my headlights to LED. I don't know why, the stock premiums just aren't cutting it for me...

I kind of want to as well. A co-worker also put the auto-dimming side mirrors on his '15 Forester, I wouldn't mind doing that too.

Welcome to the site. Looks like you got the tires the add is deleted already. I have nearly the same car a red 2015 WRX but in Limited. Also have the CVT. Wife never could get the hang of the last WRX manual I had so I decided to give this a shot after hearing good things. Time will tell.

I did autocross several times and even took it to the drag strip a few times. The trans held up fine. Like Nhibbs was saying above one thing I am waiting on is some way to control the tranny and eliminate the fake gear shifts. Keeping it in the powerband. He hit the nail on the head there. Also if I autocross more will be looking into a aftermarket tranny cooler.

Its a new drive train so there isn't a lot of aftermarket out there for it. There are people trying stuff but I will wait for a bit and let them be guinea pigs. BOOM!

Only issue I have had is the gas door not popping open. Yours being just picked up might not have the problem. There is a TSB for it if you get the problem your dealer should be able to order the new part easily.

    Enjoy the new ride!

Buddy of mine had his replaced today at Morries. Seems to work fine now. Also, his multi-display keeps resetting when it's cold out. He'll come out in the morning, and it'll be set back to default. Anyone else running into this?

Thanks! I'm actually glad to see we have the same cars. If be interested to hear about what you're doing. I want to do some mods even do some stock runs (I see you have already). Love your wheels, too!

So far I have added tint, Autostart, Kicker speaker package with subwoofer and aero kit. Not sure on what to do next. Might do coilovers. Brakes are ok for street but if I try to autocross more they could be better. I will try a better performing pad first I think once I use up the stock ones. Most of the first brake upgrades with calipers and everything I have seen so far will only fit under a 18in wheel. That wouldn't work with my winter tire set up so think I will try and get by on the stock setup with better pads. Heres my build thread I don't update it much lol.

I had the gas cap issue too but just got fixed at the dealer. Took them a couple days because they need to order the parts but it took only and hour to install. I have having my MFD reset too, it's only happened twice in the 6 months I've owned the car.

I have to say even though I am dead against CVT transmissions from my Audi's going bad, it sounds like they have really stepped up their game on them.
I saw the red on the show floor in Minnetonka. Looked VERY nice. I have fallen for the plasma blue (purple) color though.
Enjoy the new ride. And the 6 speed (jealous)
