I got some ACL race main/rod bearings in the mail yesterday, and I was wondering how many are supposed to be in there? Just 8? cause that's all I got. The box is twice as long as the one package of bearings, leading me to think there should be 16...but then again...I have no idea.

    Thanks,
    - Justin K.

You'll have 8 rod bearings, but you'll have more main bearings. Plus the main bearings should have a few of different size, as they are thrust bearings.

Just checked. 8 Rod bearings for sure, and they should all look the same.

Then you'll have 10 main bearings, 2 of which will be bigger (thrust bearings).

The thrust bearing is the rear most bearing. The front, and center one will be different too though.

hmmm...I'm trying to get it straightened out. I was wondering why the box was twice the size of the packet of 8 bearings...didn't make sense to me. Maybe the thrust was #3...and the journal size was 48mm...or 52mm...

Those look like rod bearings, not main bearings.

Yep. I agree. Does anyone know what journal size and thrust they should be for the EJ257?

I just looked at ACL's site, and the part # on the box is only for the Connecting Rod Bearing set. NOT both rod and main sets.

That is the right size, and is standard (non-machined crank). It's only for the connecting rod's though, you also need a main bearing set. Another STD set, not oversize.

You may be reading that a tad wrong.

The BIG thrust bearing is in position 5. The other 2 thrust bearings are in #1 and #3. That's just what it says.

And yes, you need Part# 5M8309H. I haven't seen a USDM 2.5L motor that has a #3 Big thrust bearing yet...

Ok, I got it figured out now. Thanks! An EJ257 with a 48mm journal, has a #5 position thrust bearing. And apparently, with a 52mm journal, the thrust position is #3 (according to ACL's page).
