Hi all! I'm Patrick! Just join recently. I have a 2013 Wrx that i bought 2.5 yrs ago. Traded a VW 20th anniv. GTI for it. I heard this group from a friend. I am just starting to mod my car and I know you guys can help me out. Thanks in advance.
Found it! I would love to go but i am on vacation out of the country for 5 weeks starting mid august.
Hey All! Never formally introduced myself. Bought an 18 Limited WRX back in August despite my Dad being a dealer for Toyota I’ve always loved cars and am super happy with driving my WRX. Although, next on my list is to upgrade the stereo... Love the subie wave and even more so when I get to do it with other people in the car, so they know what its all about too. This site and community has been gracious to me. Bought my winter wheels from here, got hooked up with an ambassador coupon (thanks Julian) and everything else I’ve learned reading through. Not to mention Morries parts discounts! Anyway, thanks to you all for making the community great! See me on 100 and 81 give me a wave ✌️
I've got a feeling I've seen you multiple times already. I live in Crystal, right over near 81 & 100, and have been seeing a WRB sedan around lately. Most Subaru drivers don't see me though, because the H6 Outback resembles the 2.5i (no hood scoop), and enthusiasts just assume I'm either some gay guy in my 50's, or a butch lesbian......"not that there's anything wrong with that."
I’m in that same area. Pretty close to downtown Robbinsdale. Rally armor is the only thing to distinguish me from stock. What color is your H6? I’ll be sure to wave next time.
I think I've seen you too. I work right off of hwy 100. But you probably won't see me in a Subaru until it's over 40 degrees at night. Rolling the black BMW battle wagon.
Hey guys! Im Trevor, just wanted to introduce myself on here. I bought a 2012 WRX hatch back in January. Its the first one I've ever owned and I love it. Just wanted to find a group I could reach out to for advice. Hopefully looking forward to some meets and cruises in the summer!
Welcome Trevor! Pics of said hatch? Also... https://mnsubaru.com/threads/—2018-laxcruise—.53429/ -Josh
Sweet looking ride there! The wife had a white car, almost the same color as that, and I agree, it was a PAIN to keep clean...they show every water spot/piece of dust/dirt that can collect on your car. Clean, they look awesome! And check out that LAX cruise link, I'm hoping to get up there this year if everything pans out. Welcome!!!
Hey y'all. Put 60,000 miles on my WRX since it was new in 2015. Signed up initally for a parts discount, LEL.
Hey everyone! Newbie here...name is John and I have a 15 Impreza Sport Premium and a 14 Legacy Premium. I'm here to learn a few mod ideas and trick and hopefully find some parts that I am looking for.
Welcome John! If you want to meet some people and maybe see some modified ones in person, check out the summer cruise! https://mnsubaru.com/threads/—2018-laxcruise—.53429/ Enjoy your stay! -Josh
I suppose I should finally introduce myself after buying some parts off the forum, using the discount at Morries on parts, and generally lurking. I'm Thomas and have a 1998 Legacy GT 2.5 with a 5mt. This started as a commuter car while I finish up law school, but it blew a head gasket about 1300 miles into my ownership. I figured why just fix something when you can make it better, hence the litany of mods that have been started, finished, or contemplated. I come from a background of wrenching on old American iron, but I have a love for all things motoring. My profile pic is me sitting on my '66 Ford Galaxie 500. I bought this car to commute during the week and then autocross it on the weekend and almost every performance mod is moving towards that end. As for the Subaru, current mods include; mild porting on the heads, phenolic intake spacers, msd coil, grimspeed lightweight pulley, ACT Streetlight flywheel, Exedy stage 1 clutch, group N motor and trans mounts, kartboy trans bushings, uel ss headers, Tanabe GF210 lowering springs, KYB AGX adjustable struts, and urethane bushings up front. I think there's more, but I can't remember to be honest. Mods that I'm sitting on parts but too lazy to finish at the time of this writing; 2004 wrx brake swap in front, H6 swap in rear, Tribeca front sway bar install, catback exhaust that needs to be cut, flipped, and rewelded, rear trailing arms that may or may not be correct, and get a wheel straightened and instal the knockoff Enkies I've got sitting around. Long term plan is to build a high compression n/a motor with the spare 2.5 I have with '96 2.2 heads, reground cams, and a standalone ecu to run e85. Pics are before and after the spring/strut swap.
Here's a pic of when I got it running after buying it from a field in Alaska, and a pic of it on the tow truck after our aggressive idea to drive cross country with it failed an hour outside of Seattle. I wish it still looked this good, lots of skin cancer on her now.
Love it! Used to have a 64 Bonneville myself. I have a soft spot for the stacked headlights. You said that you bought it for autox? That could be interesting! Hahaha
Also in for more details on the auto-x side. I've got an old project car collecting dust that I'd like to make a little more "track worthy" someday. Also, love the Galaxie. My brother has a 68.
So I see how my wording would be misconstrued, poor editing on my part. I bought the Subie to autox, not the Galaxie, though I have run it a couple times. The Gal a big slow pig and I'm not going to do too much to the suspension to change it's road manners. I toyed with making it into a road racer but its just too heavy. I'll keep it for cruising and, when the 393 stroker is finished, maybe a little straight line bruising, but that's about it.
Hey, my name's Phil. Been checking out this site off and on for advice and ideas. Been a Subie owner for a few years but have always been a fan. Just did my first head gasket job on a '99 Legacy Outback. Sold that and bought an '03 WRX with a slipping clutch. Clutch kit in the mail I drove it up from Illinois so I felt like we got to know each other decently. Nice bright LED headlights that worked the whole way home. Went to flip them on the other day and... nothing, just the parking lights come on. Mechanically I can do it, no problem but you start throwing electrical problems and me and I'm lost. Anyway, my plans for this riced out WRX are to give it a nice lift to better suit our Duluth roads and any terrain I might encounter while out camping.
Electrical problems especially suck when they're not factory to begin with. Who knows what was changed (maybe you'll get lucky and it's just the bulbs). Welcome to the bugeye gang! Are you dropping the tranny or pulling the motor to do the clutch?
Yeah I'm kinda wondering what I got myself into. But come on, it's a bugeye and no engine tuning. I'm still trying to decide. Leaning more towards pulling the engine, then I can do some cleaning and inspecting while it's out. I like a nice shiny engine bay.
