dibs....ikidz And i vote "NO" to that statement. You'll have it back up and running in no time! Patience young grasshopper, patience.
I know the feeling brotha! After i put all of the time, money, and effort into my WRX. And then the flood came and did a number to the car and my mental status. But ultimately, i was successful in bringing her back from the dead and it was a HUGE mountain to climb(completely gutting it and redoing everything). I know it's a bit overwhelming right now, but you can do it with our help! I know the worst part is that you've barely been able to enjoy it and now this happens. I also only had everything done and my new motor in the car for 10,ooo miles when my situation happened and hardly had a chance to enjoy it, so i truly know how you're feeling. You'll get through it tho, and we're here for ya!
xluben, I had the same problem. I managed to get out of it. I'm driving the car now and I have no worries with a bottom end built and it runs so well. You get the opportunity to rebuild it now to get it more HP 450 range or more! I was so pissed because i had a day of driving on mine before **** went south.... I'd say you'll be able to figure stuff out... Time will tell!
It was as a whole, but it doesn't mean that your situation doesn't suck just as bad. When i walked out and saw that the water was up over my garage door handle, my stomach sunk just like yours did when you saw that compression test result. It was difficult to deal with, but time heals. Once the initial shock is over with, things will get better! If you need me to come over and turn wrenches to help you get it back in order you just let me know! I'd be there in a second to help you out! Or if you need me to take you for some Chipotle or somethin...you just lmk. Well if someone just kicked you in tha bawlz....you'd feel this way too. It sucks to have that defeated feeling and all you want to do initially is stick your head in a hole in the ground and never come up for air. But it gets better...i promise.
Oh I totally understand why he feels like he does. That is not what I was questioning. Ben just always seemed to know what the risks were and what lay ahead.... for example the extra engine sitting in his garage. I just wasn't sure what the progress on the "backup" build was.
He definitely knew the risks the same as we all did. It still doesn't ease the "shock factor", and i'm sure that he wasn't expecting it to happen this soon.
There are risks every day you walking to your car, sleeping even. **** happens, its who gets it figured out afterwords that prevails .
Hey I have the same compression tester. If you do the rebuild and install yourself lmk if you need a hand. good luck, bud.
I am going to be seriously pissed off if I get a cracked ringland walking to my car... I'm borderline worthless in the garage, but I'm capable of following directions if/when you need a hand.
I walked under a really big sign they were hanging on the front of a store today. I was a bit scared honestly. It's Nuke's tester.
Just remember when your building collapses you need to rebuild that steal, put up them beams, re weld them seams and build that B**** sky high!! Best of luck on what ever rout you end up going.
Wow, that sucks man. I really thought your block is going to last for a while. I hope you have another car to drive while this gets block installed. Good luck I hope everything works out good for you at the end.
Damn dude... I know how you feel. I had to go through it last year. Hang in there. Like idget said, if you need a hand just holler. I have an Xterra that I purchased while waiting for my motor rebuild to be completed. If you are interested I would take off $500. Did you stop driving right away? ...to minimize the scoring. I didn't catch mine immediately. Some boring needed to happen. If you decide to go big, you could sleeve it.
It's yours, was yours to be exact...but since I'm always being an ass, I decided to write my name on it somewhere and now it's mine!!!!
OK, enough is enough. The car is not being parted out or sold. In fact, it is already back on the road! Thanks to the help of the NF crew, the motor has been pulled and the shortblock was swapped for a built block that I purchased a few months ago. Without your help it would not have been possible. I took a bunch of photos throughout the swap process. Enjoy! Pulled the bumper, front mount intercooler, intake, battery, downpipe, and external wastegate. Removed the radiator, intake manifold, AC compressor, alternator, power steering pump. Motor coming out!
Removed TGV's for deletes. Removed turbo and exhaust manifold. Pulling the heads. Parts are starting to pile up. Heads hot tanked and decked. TGV's deleted. Covert oil pickup.
Valve covers cleaned up. Head studs going in. Heads going on. Working on the manifold, TGV's, and inlet. ACT clutch disc. Turbo and exhaust manifold on. Timing belt going on. Completed long block going back in.
Motor in and manifold installed. Finished connecting manifold and installed power steering, AC, and alternator. Battery, intake and FMIC installed. Added oil and coolant. AMR 3" inlet and KSTech 73mm intake. Burping the coolant system. Draining oil. Front bumper intalled: Complete!
