Hey I was thinking about cruising with the wife in the buggy to Duluth sometime in the next few weeks while the trees are still changing colors. Would anyone else be interested in a day trip or something like that? That Great Northern Air hasn't hit my nostrils in far too long.
Wife and I are planning to go up to Duluth next Saturday, actually. Probably a little too early for prime time fall colors, but we're picking something up at a board shop up there.
I'll be up in the Grand Marais area Oct 7-8 closing down the cabin...hoping for some colors to view while there.
I was up there camping a couple weekends ago and the colors were just getting started. I would say if it continues at the rate it normally does prime colors should be in a week or so.
When/if you do go up, a drive through Jay Cooke State park should be had! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Cooke_State_Park
I'm heading up past Duluth this weekend with my buddy and his 2016 4 Runner to do some camping and trail riding. I'll take some pics.
I'm also heading up north this weekend to Scenic State park, North of Grand Rapids. Doing some canoe-in camping again! Colors should be really nice according to the fall color map. The circled dot is Scenic State park.
If you feel like driving beyond Duluth a ways, the Oberg Mountain trail is a nice, easily accessed side hike. On Onion River Rd. between Tofte and Lutsen. Great views of fall colors may be had from the top.
Went to Copper Falls yesterday in north WI, fun trip but still greenish... a couple weeks for prime colors.
