So my car came from Arizona, rust free. I look on the roof of my car and right behind the moon roof I got a rock chip that's rusting, fml. First winter for the car and it's got rust. Just my luck, guess I'll go find out how much it's gonna cost to repair.
It’s bound to happen in Minnesota. That is why mine looks like this... Cook’s on 36 in Maplewood does pretty good work! Don’t know what part of town that you’re in.
Well if you are in Stillwater, check out Cooks! My avatar is my BRZ in their paint booth. Cook's Body & Mechanical Maplewood, MN
I was expecting something about engine compression loss. I thought all cars just came with rock chips.
I had a shop take care of my wife’s ‘17 FXT a couple of years ago when I noticed a couple chips above the windshield started to rust. They sanded it out pretty well and resprayed the area. Turned out great. I don’t think it was more than $400 to have it done since it was caught early.
If you’re going to continue driving in winter I’d simply recommend fluid film treatment. Been doing my car(s) now for 5 years-ish and it appears to work out. In winter my car always looks dirty because the film holds dust/sand/grit and the underside probably weighs a few pounds extra with all the stuff attached to the film. But as far as rust goes it does appear to keep it at bay. Less than $10 2-4 times per year.
