Do you think they were government owned? Every one I have ever seen (admittedly not a huge sample size) looked like a regular Subaru in normal colors. If they were purchased by the USPS I would have expected them in some sort of official livery (white with USPS decals). I always thought they were owned by the employee (I think a lot of small town postal carriers use their own vehicle, but what do I know), but I never gave any thought to how they were made available - I guess I always thought SOA ran some sort of special program and made them available to USPS employees to purchase.
That’s a good question. I used to see a lot of them. But never knew if they were privately owned or not. Either way, they were definitely right hand drive. And I find it hard to believe that mail deliverers would have imported them themselves.
the ones (jeep wranglers, jeep cherokees, subaru foresters and subaru legacys) I've see were purchased by small towns and counties and typically had the magnet USPS logos and yellow safety cone light. General idea was that the parts were off the shelf mostly and wouldn't cost localities out the nose to fix. imagine having to ship a postal vehicle from middle of minnesota to the twin cities every time the side scrapped a bush road branch.
But I wonder if they were imported or converted? Anyways, I’ve wondered for quite some time now how the rhd “personal vehicles” delivering mail were acquired.

They have a Friendee for sale! Not to be confused with the Handee model. https://www.postalcars.com/inventory
Reading the comments is a good time. Seller states that the extra red cables under the hood are for the "sterio". Pretty sure they're just beefed up ground cables (although I don't really understand why the installer chose to make them red and the amp power wire is dark gray/almost black. Haha.)
I also like the fact that it doesn't say anywhere what brand the coilovers are, just says that they're adjustable. I'm sure that means they're quality.
Looks like they're Fortune Auto (?). Just going off the hazy green top. Also they state that the wheels 17" in the first paragraph and then 18" two paragraphs later...
Agreed. Although I would buy that ugly with 77k miles for $2600. I would not buy it for much more than that. 7k miles on the other one? That is ridiculous!
I believe I never drove this thing in whatever video game it has appeared in over the decades, and was never sure why exactly it was even included.
It's been way too long for me to remember specifics but your comment reminded me of the early Gran Turismo days. I don't recall what the starting car was but my god it was bad.
