Based on how that appears to have been removed, I'd be curious if anyone "misplaced" an 02 WRX lately.

Well that took longer than I thought. Finally managed to get outright hung up on by a prospective "seller" while asking basic questions about maintenance and ownership history.

That also marks the first time I've had someone claim that they know for a fact the 100k service items have been done even though they bought the car 4k miles ago (strike 1), have no service records (strike 2) and can't come up with the name of the dealership where they bought the car (strike lulz). When pressed, they knew for sure the 100k service items were done because the car has over 150k miles. Nothing pertinent was left out of the last sentence...

My only regret is he decided to hang up right as I decided to have some fun. I found it ironic that he was so completely incapable of thinking on his feet yet required a phone call instead of email.

It was this one, in case anyone is about to try and look at it:

Ayup. He did an excellent job of emphasizing that it handles and brakes great! He was extra thorough on those points, to the point of repeatedly attempting to answer any question asked with those useful tidbits of objective info. I drew a number of conclusions about his character during the conversation. "Inconsistent" didn't make the list. So there's something, I suppose.

Actually before you jump on that car it is one of the cleanest bug eyes you will ever see, original motor and trans and I did the compression test and change the oil every 2800 miles since before 100k and got documents to prove it! Lol transmission is perfect so is the motor, mileage means nothing when there are people who dont understand maintenance and this guy does, trust me this car is not over priced with the money he's put into it, it won't need anything for a long time.

Gonna have to disagree. Parts weaken over time. Maintaining a car doesn't add value. My asking my price for my car is slightly high but not $2k+ high. But regardless its the sellers car and he can ask for a million if he so chooses.

Yeah over time, his car is barely older then what looks like you have a 04-05, obviously all freeway miles on his, and ever single part that wares on the car has been replaced, all the ball joints, everything, I bet that car has better compression then most cars with half the mileage, from the dozens of them I've done on Subaru's, that is the case. Shouldn't bash a car you don't know about, its not good karma... But sure your entitled to your own opinion, but if that's all it is besides facts then don't go too in depth in arguing it.

I didn't bash anything. I'm just saying maintaining a car well doesn't add value. Your talking about a mass produced vehicle not a limited production sought after car. My comments didn't bash the car at all. Please don't assume, or thoroughly read my post. Like I said he can ask a million if he wants. It's his car.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I guess the disagreement is that maintenance doesn't add to value, I've seen so many people buy a car to find out it needs $2000 dollars in work because the car wasn't maintained, so in fact in some eyes maintenance does addvalue, timing belt service costs money if its due, so does clutches, and if the oil wasn't changed regularly I've seen many problems from that too, maintenance does add value in my eyes.

No worries! I agree it sucks when you buy a used car and it falls apart. Either way GLWS to your friend.

It doesn't add value regular maintenance is just that....its something a responsible car owner should do, not something to add value. Call it bashing or call it what you want, I picked up my 2005 lgt limited with 240k for 4k this year and nothing was wrong with that either, cleanest car with those miles I have ever seen...wouldn't have bought it if it was near the price asked for the bug eye.

On the topic of grammar, "spelt" is a type of grain, like wheat. It is not any tense, past or otherwise, of "spell."
