I did not notice anything else. It was like 8pm when i got to the dealership so getting dark. The hood was NASTY, no paint left on front of the hood scoop. IIRC lots of paint missing on bumper. I do not know if that normally happens on a WRX but IMO its a sign of a not so good repaint(probably a good idea to run a carfax). I did not test drive the car. It was out a little out of my budget and if I was going to go over my budget car would have had to be minty fresh.

Big pass. 140k but no major service done. 4EAT tranny had been replaced. Started life as a lease vehicle. Front right wheel bearing sounded shot. Rear drum brakes shot (yeah, was an L not an S). Power steering pump squealing like mad. 3 very worn tires and one pretty new one of a different make - that can't be good on the AWD. Ran great, but for that price range we didn't want a vehicle that had $1000+ of looming maintenance to be done.

said $6k. Doesn't seem like too hot of a deal. $4k maybe, but $6k, meh. Of course, there's probably some flexibility in that price since not a lot of people will be interested, most likely. I'd also be pretty curious as to how exactly that motor got seized. Might indicate abuse in general. Who knows what shape the tranny's in, for example.

Not a Subaru, but someone looking for a RallyCross car to beat up on should grab this:

    http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ctd/953701390.html

4th & 5th don't work, but who cares? You never use them on a RallyCross course anyhow... Bet if you showed up with cash in hand you could get this car for 1/2 of the $600 the guy is asking. I'd grab it just for a spare 2 dr shell if my wife wouldn't kill me...

She was against the wagons at first - but she's warming up to them (me: "Honey, how are we going to drive to Iowa to pick up an engine block for a build if we don't have something to haul it back in???").

And, of course, the first time she got to ride in the snow with me it was over. Subaru or die.

Almost made her sick last night doing Subie-style donuts in that St. Paul lot. :)

lol - I don't think he meant it like that. And to me that says a properly broke in motor - all 166,000 miles of it ago ;)

I hear those 2.2's are pretty long-living. And do I understand they take well to boost?

I went to look at this today, and the picture makes it look better than it is. It does have the new clutch and tranny, but the interior is crap, and the deck that is in there doesn't fit. It looks like a theft recovery, or like someone just hacked it up. There are things that are physically cut out of the dash. It just didn't feel like a very solid ride to me. I think it had 126k on the clock too. Nice girl, Michelle--a private dealer, but things were a bit disorganized for my taste. I came to look at the car, and normally during the time when I would ask questions, she said she had to go inside to talk to some people, and she let me go test drive it with her mom in back. Both nice people, but I didn't get the info about the car that I wanted, and it seemed like they were rushing me when they told me they had to go somewhere else with the car.

I also asked before hand if I could test drive the IS300 they have, she said yes, then when I got there, she said it was put away in the garage.

I guess in this economy if you want to sell a car...you have to make that a real possibility... am I wrong?

I'm not hating on her or anyone there, so no offense if any of you know this girl. I just had a hard time getting info I needed, and with not being able to drive the other car, it just seemed like a wasted trip to me.
