I was in 4WD Lo in 1st gear at 3500 RPMs.... so thats like 10mph. I no longer go to them Fair warning! People SUCK and call the cops! !
its still snowing and i am still planning on coming. after the warm days we have had i am leary about the ice. i would prefer some parkinglot action, or unplowed street driftin. this time i might be brining "jeepguy" and "santakloss" down w/ me. kloss has a vid camera! (read: let the fun begin)
Lake Jane in Oakdale is huge with thick ice. I don't see it melting anytime soon. The ice was not wet at all the two times I went last week.
Ok Fong... tonight you lead us onto the lake... you go first and we'll follow. If you disappear beneath, at least we know when to back off and we'll pull you out
hell yeah..i am in for sure. i call not it for going on the lake first though. I'll try to remember to bring a video camera. maybe someone should go take a look at the lake while it is still light outside.
I am 99% sure no one will fall through the ice at our spot on Lake Jane. I do not know of any live springs on Lake Jane that will prevent a thick layer of ice. When it's warm out, the ice on the shore will melt first making the lake a floating glacier. Lake Jane is one mile north of Carmike Cinemas in Oakdale. I guess I'll go first. The boat launch has a steep dip between the paved road and the lake. The first person should go around this dip to prevent getting their undercarraige from getting scratched up from the edge of the boat launch, or worse, get stuck.

I'll probably be out tonight too... I don't trust the lakes though, too much warm weather lately. Anyone have a motorized auger to test the thickness? Might tag along and watch if that's cool As for the parking lot thing, we (read 'the club') really need to get standing permission to use a lot from a lot owner. Obviously this rules out any public schools and large businesses, but I just know there must be a business owner or two that would give a group like ours permission as long as we can prove we won't abuse the privelage and maybe give them some notice. Unfortuately I don't have any business contacts like this at the moment, but I figure if I throw this out there someone might think of something. Private property is key, I don't think the state can really regulate that stuff unless there's a noise violation or other obvious illegal stuff happening, but I reserve the right to be wrong Anyways, see you guys out there.

I ended up stepping off the ice for a bit and got lost on the side roads (stupid 'new' developments), but it was fun to let loose a little bit on the ice Grimm - sorry to hear... how fast were you going? maybe pm me if it's off topic, I'm curious about the damage.
that was alot of fun guys. sorry to hear you missed it Masubie. me and klesk got there at about 8:30, and didnt see anyone. thought you guys couldnt take the cold lol. i got some video of this on my digital camera, i havent put it on ly comp yet so no idea how it turned out. i iwhsi could have goten the "door open donuts" on video. that was cool. and to all those concerned i did make it home
The Legacy did pretty well I might add. It was a great turn out. I just wished I had my AWD. I know everyone had fun!
I'll go out to Firestone...but I don't know about the Lake....suppose we could.... It's not a biggy as long as you are dressed for the weather.
